I definitely have serious health issues which put me in a much higher risk of experiencing life-threatening complications if I contract covid. I live on 5 acres in a remote, rural area just a few hours South of the border, in NH. So, yes, I can sort of quarantine.Even if you are able to enter Canada and file for asylum during your intake it will become clear that you aren't an actual refugee. We also have covid in Canada although the Maritimes, until recently, have been able to limit their numbers. It is unclear if you have health issues which makes you more concerned about covid. If so, this isn't a time where it is easy to access the medical system, get appointments especially with specialists. In good times it could take months but with the extra delays due to covid anything medical is severely delayed. Are you not able to quarantine yourself in the US? Are you able to support yourself in Canada?
The problem is that most people who live in rural areas like this are of the opinion that the coronavirus is a “hoax,” and act as though there *is* no pandemic. In fact, I get nasty looks at the grocery store because I’m wearing a mask when I go food shopping every few weeks, which is generally the only time I ever leave the property nowadays.
I do have an income (~$900 USD/mo SSDI), and I am capable of finding ways to support myself without too much trouble, as I am very entrepreneurial and creative. I have 20+ years in the foodservice industry and an associate’s degree in Business Administration. I’m confident that I can get by just as I do here.
