Ask for another type visa before get the response of the first one

My husband is working in Canada. I applied for Open Work Permits visa and I get it after getting a long time more than 7 month. Due to the Covis19 I didn’t go to my husband and my visa expired, so I applied for new one as a visitor visa to take less time. Unfortunately I have already 3 months without any response and when I checked time is about 7 months, meanwhile the Open Work Permits is take two month. i am thinking to apply for new visa as Open Work Permits.

My question can I apply for Open Work Permits visa before get the response of my visitor visa?

Yes, you can submit an OWP application. I believe processing times are long for them as well right now. However maybe it will be faster for you since you were approved previously.

Hi, thanks for the info. I have the same situation. Me and my husband applied for student permit and trv, i got ppr but they just asked letter of explanation for my husband. We submitted the letter and it’s been 2 weeks now, still there’s no news. Is it possible to submit an owp instead? Does the trv application will affect the owp application? I really wanted to go to Canada with my husband.
