they processing in batches now
Exciting stuff! Well, I bet it helps that there are a lot less applicants after April. The sheets get a whole lot shorter once you start looking at the summer months. I mean, may not be representative of the whole, but, still if the sheets here are any indication, there were a lot less applicants than usual.

Hi everyone! My husband and I had some major changes last month, we moved, new jobs etc. Can I change this info on our application now? Or should I wait until I actually have AOR and a case file number? Thanks for any help you can give :)

I called IRCC now and the agent said she cannot reveal any information regarding my application as I am the sponsor and not a representative or principal applicant.
She sent me a webform for representatives which needs to be filled by both SA and PA and will be linked to the application in about 5 days. Only then I can access information on my application.
Application was received by IRCC on 2nd July 2020

Did any of you guys who called IRCC had to go through the same? Is there a way around this?

You are not required to hire a representative. This text remains on screen while the narrator continues. Narrator: The Government of Canada treats all applicants equally, whether they have a representative or not.

5475 probably what she was asking AND most likely, is already filled already. IMM 5475 reads:-
Use this form if you want to allow Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to release your personal information to someone you choose. The person you choose will be able to get information on your case file, such as the status of your application.
They will not be a representative [ 5476 here!] who can do business for you with IRCC. A person must be appointed as a representative to do business for you with IRCC.
FOR YEARS they (agents) are not able to see that form which we may have added in the package. So just send another 1 by extracting from the same package. If you want to appoint an agent or LAWYER from Canada who will apply/work for you then ONLY imm5476 should be used.
So better fill imm 5475 and send even if it was sent. AND if she want imm5476 then she is wrong. imm5476 as said is for sponsor who cannot apply for himself so that agent handles all work. ANY COMMENTS by members are welcome if I am wrong here? I got similar suggestion about rep for wife even if imm5475 sent and oh man I had to resend the same . Another member did the same too . It is so sad AGENTS cant see all forms :(

May download if not already sent. Try IE 11 if chrome does not work. My chrome does not work on .PDF, I know I got to set it to "download" not "open"

So we looked into this and turns out Use of Representative (IMM 5476) is correct, and the language clearly says a representative could be a friend, family member, immigration consultant or lawyer. The reason they asked us to do this was, spousal sponsorship application is always linked to the primary applicant, which isn't me. They need to validate all information through my spouse and no one else, unless my spouse gives me the authority to do so. When you go to IMM 5476 you'll see the option to select the relationship of the representative with the principal applicant, one of which is spouse.

So basically this is the correct form to fill.
Here's the link for IMM 5476 and the Web Form.

Our workaround to avoid this extra documentation is for my spouse (the principal applicant) to call them directly.

"Representative" can be anyone, including spouse. I believe most spouse applicants use the imm5476 to appoint their spouse to be representative so that all such business can be done on their behalf. At any rate, that's what we did and it was quite convenient.

Note you can only (I believe) have one such representative so if using a third-party lawyer or consultant, cannot do for spouse as well.

So no, I don't think the IRCC agent was wrong to suggest this form.

Our messages overlapped but this is my understanding as well.

Looks OK the only diff is if U need to check status use 5475 . For total business 5476 as all of you explained which I used years ago and even this time. YES the diff is here:-
Use this form if you want to allow Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) to release your personal information to someone you choose. The person you choose will be able to get information on your case file, such as the status of your application. They will not be a representative who can do business for you with IRCC.
Another copy;-
What should I do if I want my spouse, family member or friend to check on my application for me?
If you want your spouse, family member, friend or other person to check your application status for you, but not do business with IRCC on your behalf, you must: use 5475e
With 5476 U can do more things AGREED
And say an appeal comes then Sponsor will have to deal with the appeal for the Applicant; unless older is cancelled a new 5476 is filled with Lawyer's name.
