Hey all, do you guys know if you can apply for Express Entry and sponsorship (common-law partner) at the same time? Or can one help another?

Sure - you can do both. No - they don't help each other.

You have to pay the fees for both and depending on how far along the second process is when the first one is approved, may not get a refund.

Yea I guess that's fine as long as one of them gets approved. But let's say one of them does go throw, does it mean I have to cancel my other pending application or can it say open just in case something could go south?

If one app is approved, you will then land and become a PR. You can't have a PR application in process when you are already a PR...

I have one question can you please help me with my situation?

We are applying for express entry (me and my common law partner as accompanying).

Me and my partner started living together in Jan2019. However there were few gaps:
1) I went to India in August 2019 returned after 3 weeks.
2)She went to India for 24days Came back in Nov 2019.
So, we were not together in those days.

Should I consider my common law date Nov 2020? as IRCC definition says relation should be continuous with short gaps.
Are these 2 gaps for 3 weeks each, considered as short?

Any insights will be appreciated
