I have applied for TRV in March 5th, 2020 with sponsor approval and Principal applicant background check is in process but I still don’t have a decision on my application.

Nothing has changed, TRV’s are still getting rejected if your spouse do not show strong ties to his/her home country. (Perhaps having a permanent job with leave letter or established rental properties could help but still nothing guaranteed) Immigration minister has done nothing so far to help our cases beside just declaring they would finalize 6000 cases each month until December. Of course I don’t believe that either.
Thanks for your reply!

I wonder why they claim that we can invite our spouse on TRV as our immediate family member and why they have released recently that we can also invite our extended family members when they do not approve TRVs regardless!

Prior to these announcements, none of the family members would have been allowed in at all due to covid, with or without a TRV (or visa waiver.) Those who are not family members, immediate or extended, cannot enter Canada at all right now.

What they announced was that the prohibition on entry was lifted for some family members. Not an exemption to the visa requirements.

Thanks for the clarification! I wonder should I apply for a TRV now and what are the chances of it getting approved? How are the processing times look like especially due to COVID?

Thanks!

You can apply and take your chances. No-one could estimate your chances of being approved or processing times.

I got the SA email today. Wife’s file is being transferred to SVO. FML!
Lol I got mine yesterday. Was wondering what happened to my transfer. Looks like a bunch of people were transferred yesterday. Congrats hopefully the secondary offices start working ASAP. Kingston isn't active right now :(

Ya FML is right. SVO officers loves to take their sweet time in processing applications. They enjoy ping pong and Haka noodles during their work hours.

They requested ADR from me on March and it is still being reviewed and it was a straight forward RCMP clearance certificate.

Good luck buddy. With SVO you need to remind yourself often patience is a virtue
