Hello guys,

Hope you are healthy and safe.

I and my girlfriend are preparing materials for common-in-law immigration. We are in Montreal. I found I didn't have any proof pictures or videos in my social media apps( I'm a lazy guy, never update my social media stuff , but my girlfriend keeps some pictures in her social media application) . I'm wondering if this kind of proof very important to our application?

Thank you very much
Rui

Not really - they are looking for solid proof of cohabitation, in particular. A lease, insurance, bills, etc for both of you going to the same address for a minimum of 12 months. Anyone can take photos together and pretend to be in a relationship, so those kinds of proofs, while supporting, will not prove common-law.

Thank you very much! Pardon me ask, during common-in-law process, can I also submit my parents sponsorship interest form? Just saw the parents program re-open and very excited about it!

No, you would have to have submitted 3 year's worth of tax returns before you'd be eligible for the current requirements of PGP & you would need PR status to do so as well.

Thank you. Actually I live in Montreal, as I know just need 1 year's tax return records. My income is eligible for my parents(3 person), I also have my PR. I just worry about if I apply my parents application during waiting common-in-law process will affect both applications results.

You can do both but only if your LICO meets the 4 family member requirement. You’ll need to count your common law in your family size with or without sponsoring her.

We went through the common law process for a spouse work permit application last year and for our CSQ application late last year. I’m sponsoring my common law.
They didn’t really care about photos from social media, they really cared about financial proofs: joint account statements, letter from my employer stating I have life insurance and my common law is the beneficiary, joint bills, I even threw in INTERAC transfers to show that we were financially codependent even before we opened our joint account. We also provided the common law form signed before a notary
It all went well without any questions while we were flagpoling/when we applied for CSQ through the PEQ program :) don’t worry about social media too much unless at any point you guys were doing a long distance relationship
Thank you so much for your response, this is very helpful!!!!
