Assuming you worked at least six hours every weekday from Monday, January 20, 2020 to Friday, January 15, 2021, that might just count as one year. Make sure to apply to change your status to visitor before January 16 so you can stay in Canada to apply for PR.
What are u saying? Why to change status to visitor? He can apply for PR while he’s still a worker.
If OP's work permit expires the very day after they complete one year and become eligible to apply for PR, they won't be able to do so in time to maintain their status as a worker.

You can apply to extend your stay as a visitor. Your company cannot just force you to leave Canada.

Yes, the visa is only a travel document needed to enter Canada. You should apply to renew it but the important thing is to apply to change your status to visitor before January 16. Then you can apply for PR.
Well you could leave Canada and apply for PR from home, but I assumed you wanted to stay in Canada. If you don't then no need.
