Study permit from UAE

Has anyone recently received a successful study permit from UAE for Jan 2021 intake? Please advise about the documentation, what to show for family ties and for employment situation?

From what I've seen on this forum, most SP applications processed in Abu Dhabi/UAE that were sent by temporary residents in UAE were refused, even though some of them actually had strong cases. I encourage you to apply from your home country to avoid the risk of refusal.

Typically older applicants who are seeking Post Graduate degrees get a tough run with the VOs in abu Dhabi. Younger applicants who have just graduated from HS and are in the GCC with their parents have a higher rate of approval (or lower rate of rejection). This is from my observation of different cases around me (acquaintances and on these forums).

Agreed. I am planning to apply from India. Do i need PCC and medical to be done there, i read that medical only needed if you live for last 6 months in India, however in my case i did not live in India for last 6 months(I am in UAE).

Well, that's not true at all!!! There are many people including some of my seniors in Hight School that have applied from UAE are now studing with in Canada.
Yes, its true that since we are a tempory resident in UAE it makes it a bit more diffcult to obtain a study permit but as long as you are able to prove to them that you have ties to this country (UAE) and you are able to pay for your tuition thats all it matters.

You need to give me a bit more information so I can advise you better but generally, if you have family living in the Emirates, that can be enough to full fill the "ties to the country" criteria. For example, in my application, I showed them my parent employment certificate, how long they have been living in the emirates, mentioned that I have siblings studying here, investments both locally and internationally, Business owned and Etc.. Generally just having family living in the emirates can be enough and I know many people that have gotten the study permit with just that. Surly if you have more then just family to prove, it could strengthen your application.

What do you mean exactly by ties with the UAE? I am working here for last 5 years with salary more then 20k AED but i never purchased any property because i never wanted to be. Therefore its not clear to me how can we show ties with UAE. Please explain, what your successful friends shown in their application?

I am a salaried person living here with my family(spouse and kid), but non of my any other family members or relatives are in UAE. Over and above this i don't own any business in UAE. In short, my profile as per UAE is very simple and its just like any other person who comes here and work for companies and then go back to India after certain years of job. Please advise.

Are you planing you bring them along with you in Canada? If you are then there is a higher chance of getting rejected because they are not sure if you will leave Canada after your duration of study is completed. This applies to both you living here in the Emirates and India. On the other hand, if you are planning the travel alone you will have ties back to your home because you have your Wife and a Child to come back to. This applies both in the Emirates and India. Furthermore, if you own any type of property or any kind of investments back in India whether its bough or inherited just Mention it in your SOP if they have asked you to provide one.

I am in a similar situation but other way around. I plan to use my wife as study visa applicant.

I am working in Qatar since 8 years in same company and plan to support my wife's student visa.

The catch is that my wife has a study gap of around 11 years and in this gap she worked only 3-4 years and the remaining gap was maternity leave and had to take care of children until they are stable enough.

At first, I do not intend to file spouse open work permit inorder to minimize chances of student visa refusal.

The courses she intend to study indeed has good future here in middle east and this can be justified using her last drawn salary. The amount we will pay for education in Canada will eventually reap the benefits when she comes back and continues her work. Do you think such explanation is enough to justify the intent ?

Its very common thing which i know already. But anyway thanks for your advise. I am planning to travel alone, while my family will be back in India. This scenario can only be working out if i apply from India because, i can not leave my family behind in UAE without any visa and they also has to go back to India with me. Therefore this applies only if i apply from India.

They are stricter than before on UAE applicants because they are all trying to come en-masse

Visa rejection for expats was maximum at that time also. Nothing has changed yet. Think it like that, why a VO should accept your visa application when you are already outside your home country? You just have to break that barrier. Your documents should convince VO that you will leave after studies.

This sounds good then. Just make sure to submit a well-written SOP that states your intentions, why you chose the specific university, how will you pay for your tuition and living, and last but not the least your family that will stay behind in India. If you are planning to travel a couple of times back to India for holidays DO mentioning that! moreover, try to focus mainly on your child on an emotional level as I am sure you are doing this not only for yourself but for the future of your child.
