LoL, I know, it is tricky and the worst is waiting and wondering if everything is okay after you send your application to them.
You don't by chance know what to do on the question about the past 10 years employment? On my original paper app I just wrote more stuff on a separate piece of paper, but since this is an online only form...there's no extra space.

For an open work permit, yes.
Thank you for your help. I filled out everything, but now I am not sure on which address to send it. It's confusing. Should I send it on address for extensions or on address for spouse or common law partner work permits?

Mailing instructions

  • Address the envelope as follows:
    • For extensions including:
      • work permit extension,
      • open work permit extension
Note: An “extension” is when you are submitting an application for the same employer with whom you currently hold a valid work permit

      Send your application to:

      Case Processing Centre in Edmonton
      Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada
      c/o Work permits/Same employer, Station 202
9700 Jasper Avenue NW, Suite 55
      Edmonton, AB T5J 4C3

    • For spouse or common-law partner work permits, send your application to:

      Case Processing Centre in Edmonton
      Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada
c/o Work permits for spouses or common-law partners, Station 777
9700 Jasper Avenue NW, Suite 55
      Edmonton, AB T5J 4C3

Hi all,

Posting again as it's hard to find answers. So many webforms and forum posts and none of them are quite relevant to me. Here's the facts.

I am the principal applicant of a spousal application. I have a current Open Work Permit, but it expires in May as it is tied to my old passport - I wasn't issued it to the full validity (2 years)

I received a new passport yesterday, and would now like to file for an extension of this OWP (so I get the full validity, not the shortened one due to old passport.)

How do I do this? There's a questionnaire online that supposedly links to the app, but it's asking for my medical? I didn't have to have a medical when I got the OWP in the first place. I do have a medical, but it's held up right now as I need further tests.

The questionnaire also asks if I'm going to be living in Canada permanently or temporarily. Well...the answer is both? I'm a PR applicant, but applying for an OWP extension...so temporarily?

Any advice would be appreciated.
Hi,

Did you receive your OWP extension ?? I also need to apply for my OWP extension next week and would need some help in terms of document checklist?

Hi,

Congratulations. I also applied for Inland spousal PR sponsorship application in July 2019. Like others I am also waiting for AIP,DM & COPR. I would like to get information on below questions,

1. As I dont have AIP yet can I apply for OWP extension online ?? OR paper application is the only option?

2. As per the document checklist IMM5556e, do I need to provide employment document such as employment letter, pay slip etc??

3. As it is spousal dependent OWP do I need to submit my husband documents like his passport, PR card etc?

In general, If you can let me know list of documents require for extension, would really be helpful to me.

Thank you!

Hi

Hi,
Sorry for late response, I did on November 3,2020. Waited for 10 months to receive extension! Now I have to do new extension since they gave me extension until my passport expiry date which is December 2,2020. I wonder if submitting online will be more quicker for them to process.

Hello everyone,

I received my PGWP recently. Can I apply for my TRV and my spouse’s open work permit extension using same time (not in 1 application) using a same gckey account? There will be 2 separate applications.
1 is for my trv and the other one is for my spouse OWP. But both of them will be under process with the same gckey. I’ll keep 1 week interval for both applications. Please note that I want to apply for my TRV first to visit my home country alone. Otherwise I have to wait for her OWP extension and apply together for our TRVs.
