COPR and coronavirus

If you're not exempted from travel restrictions, you shouldn't travel to Canada. There is a process once COPR expires and you will be able to travel once you have been included in the exemptions.
I say this because there is very little chance airlines will let you in. Exemptions have been there for a while and airlines are aware of them. Its also posted on IATA website. Airline also have direct access to CBSA who will not allow them to board you. Dont rely on phone conversations you have with airline call center staff. The staff on ground at the airport are very well informed of travel restrictions.
However, if you beat the odds and land in Canada, you are again at a huge risk and my personal view is that its not worth it.

Honestly I am not very concerned about the money but about the situation that what if they cancel my COPR.
That would be a huge LOL for me.

I am struggling to understand whether I should concentrate on getting a job in India or wait a little more and then figure out things in Canada.

I am in a similar position (19th Mar), and I was told the opposite by a CBS agent over the phone. She actually yelled at me when I tried to explain my situation to her, threatened that I would be deported if I set foot there and the airlines will be penalized as well. I have never been spoken to in that tone ever, she made me feel as if I was a criminal or something. It is beyond preposterous how they are treating those who have done everything by the book so far, respected their long legal process and poured in time and money and effort into this process. It is very disturbing. I thought Canada was better than this.

This is weird they are not supposed to yell at you for asking a question but informing you of the possibility of deportation is not a threat when youre restricted from entering and still you manage to. As I wrote to another member sometime back, dont travel when youre not exempted from travelling.

They wouldn't cancel your COPR but they will impose a fine on the airline and send you back which will stay on your travel record forever. Dont take that risk no matter how much anyone tries to tell you that worst is just losing money and best is achieving your dream.
One more thing, landing is Canada is not the goal but to make it successful is. Save your time and energy for doing that. Just my advice. Good luck

Sorry to hear about your experience! Must admit extremely un-Canadian, extremely rare.

You see, whatever else happens ad hardly matters if they think you are utterly wrong, unlawful, asking something preposterous - generally speaking contact centre agents with these organisations in Canada are:

• Natural born 'polites'.
• Generally careful since the calls are recorded
• Very, I mean very empathetic to the other persons perspective
• All in all I can love and hug them. Literally.

May I suggest if this happens again, please save yourself the time and hassle, close the call and call again. I would also never hesitate to request supervisor referral. If one is not available right away, they may be able to log a request, log a complaint. (the last bit is my guess)

Accountability is where we spend millions. In every organisation and every facet of life. At times it feels a waste as well.

Again, sorry to hear of your experience. Please call again! (I would avoid narrating the previous call experience at start of the call - keep it positive so you can get to your desired outcome from the call)

Thank you for your kind response. I was honestly surprised myself. I didn't react at the time, said thank you and hung up. But this bitterness lingered in my head for a good 4-5 hours. They're probably getting many calls, and I can understand having to explain the same things to callers again and again, but my situation is extremely rare, as I have a US address and got stuck in India because of the lockdown, but she couldn't care less about my situation - a far cry from "empathetic". This wasn't the first time either, I called them two days ago and I was told to give a call back and that they would transfer me to IRCC, but this person emphatically refused to do that also.

Likely, you make a fair point. Risk aversion is generally the safer option, as long as it is feasible.

Perhaps, take a sheet of paper, write down all pros on one side, cons on the other half. Might help in getting closer to a decision!

My COPR expired in May, and i sent a web form in June, but no answer since. My husband is already in Canada, he went in March, and my daughter and I can't wait to join him. I live in Brasil, and we sent our quarantine plan, witch it's easy, since my husband already rented a house.

I already sold all my furniture and packed everything, and we are just wanting for some answer. It's so frustrating.

I am in deep trouble and concerned for my PR.
COPR was issued on 20th March 2020, which is after the specified date of 18th March 2020.
COPR will expire on 30th august 2020 which is just 3 days from now.
I have connected with the border agency in Canada and they told me if you have valid COPR and you land in Canada you will be permitted to come in.
I spoke with all airlines which fly from Delhi to Toronto and Air India and Air Canada are allowing me to travel to Canada.
IRCC is not giving any response, and more importantly no response from the Canadian Embassy in Delhi.

Is there anybody else who is on the same boat?
I am very confused and concerned, much needed help will be appreciated.

If you have a US visa.. travel to US first and then you can enter canada.. There was somebody who had done this and successfully landed in canada..

Hey guys,
Need your suggestion. I've already raised 2 web forms ready to travel with my flight date on 8th Sept with Turkish and accommodation plan with my friend. Now I decided to go with Airbnb as it would be a concrete plan in my opinion for the officer to review with receipts, dates etc.. Secondly, I also plan to book another flight with Air Canada, as AC would be on the same page with Canadian immigration authorities. Is it a good idea to raise the WF with new details as officer will have my previous and new flight details. Looking for your advice. Thanks !

You will complete immigration and customs formalities at Toronto so you will be asked about your quarantine plan for Ottawa at the Toronto POE. You must stay airside to join your connecting flight to ottawa

I am following your posts since 2 days. I have not read the latest guidelines of IRCC but are visas stamped after Mar 18 exempted from travel as per guidelines.
Do not go with your call experience becasue border agency is not fully aware of latest guidelines some times.
Follow the guideline, if it allows you, you can travel.

No he doesn't. But lately after raising new webform I informed IRCC that I have my airbnb options open post I hear something on ETA.
