Hi everyone,

I have been facing delays in my student visa application for September 2020 intake.
Current processing time for application of study permit from India on IRCC is given 1 week.

I completed my upfront medical on 17th February 2020.
I submitted my visa application on 3rd March 2020.
I completed my biometrics on 5th March 2020.
My visa application status is in progress
while my biometric status is completed.
However, My medical test status hasn't been updated yet.

I'm observing some applicants are receiving visa in spite of Coronvirus outbreak all over the globe.
I'm worried because people who applied for visa 5 days after my application are receiving visa for May and September Intakes.

I'm opening this thread to call out people with same concern.
If you are in the same boat please comment here and share your timeline and progress.
Hey,
Did you receive your study permit?

you should apply for GCMS notes to see whats going on, i did few days ago.
And the decision to defer should be yours, i cannot suggest.
I read that GCMS could be requested after a decision has been made. If you're in India, I'm assuming a relative in Canada applied for the GCMS on your behalf...? I applied under SDS on March 8th, and no news yet.

Hi friends, I have received a student visa refusal yesterday. It states that the visa officer is not satisfied that I will leave Canada after I graduate. I have family ties in Canada and I am applying to a second-degree program. I also have en EE profile. I am going to reapply and I want to learn from your experience and knowledge about this situation. Have you received or do you know someone who received approval for the second time after a visa rejection?
is this from india have u apply in India'

I applied for my study permit on 12th January 2020 with all the document attached including bio metric which was done earlier. On 29th January the medical status changed to pass medical test and ever since there has been no communication.
I am a Kenyan applying from Rwanda and the expected time duration is suppose to be 7 weeks as per CIC website and now it is over 10 weeks. Does anyone know whether the Covid19 could delay their decision ?
hello hav you got any decision

I was rejected two times for same reason i not satisfied that you will leave Canada. But then i applied again in March and got my AIP on 13 August and my classes are starting on 31 August and if i start my classes online and my visa gets rejected college will cut 25% fee. I don't know what to do. Should i start my classes or not and if started my classes what are the chances of getting visa.

According to recent GCMS notes that a person with AIP have applied for, IRCC is holding second stage approval for complete applications in general (depends on case to case)
If you have received AIP, consider it as a full approval, IRCC is holding PPR because VACs are closed. Once they are open they will roll out full approvals. I'd suggest you to start studying if your course is 2 or more years long, don't start if it is 1+1 bundle course of two years, according to Sask Polytech 50% study of 1+1 bundle course is 1 semester of education. So it is a gamble to start Fall 2020 in that case. But it's up to you.

Whilst most of those with stage 1 processing will continue to study permit approval, even complete applications from areas of the world such as Europe with open VACs have also received stage 1 processing and not study permit approval. It's worst for those with courses that cannot be done online, as they cannot start at all.

I do suspect when most VACs in the world are re-opened, that will be when IRCC will start to approve study permits again, but still there are the barriers of 1) no travel for study permits approved after 18th March to still overcome.
