Possible but this is the new normal. One can not stop becasue of this. Best would be test everyone coming in to the country and send to quarantine if found positive(I think, HK is already doing this).

But it is the decision taken by a country.

There are some messages you should ignore. Just scroll and move on to the one that benefits or uplifts you. You don’t need negative vibes. People are going through a lot already. Try it.

I second you. Canada and USA have totally different political & business relationship.
USA can never be compared with any other country.
I am still wondering how anyone that knows or understands international affairs will be angry and then go on to compare the relationship between US and CANADA to Canada and other countries. It’s strange.

I guess people are looking for anywhere to pour out their frustrations so I just keep reading.

I do not know exactly what they do to maintain the relationship but after living in Canada for around 4 years, I understood how USA is important for Canada like for many other countries.
Also,Canada is heavily dependent on South/Latin America for produce and stuff.

There are many other things.
Canada is a beautiful country with less population situated adjacent to USA(most powerful country in the world). They maintain different kind of relationship.

This is from experience. Would not be waste for you to read :)

Yea i read about it in this thread itself aand also following IRCC and NDVO on twitter and FB waiting for them to update with some good news. Hopefully the Indian Authorities let flights resume and the VACs open in September. I will send in a web form this week about my willingness to travel with a detailed plan. I will post any response i get from them.

Just a question, have other people her who have expired COPRs, and are from India, already sent in webforms for willingness to travel or are you'll waiting for flights to resume and VACs to open next month and will send it in then??
I haven't raised one yet. It's been close to two months since my COPR expired. I plan on waiting to see if anyone gets a response from NDVO and how long an extension they give.
Honestly, I'd like to avoid going and trying to settle down in winter. Preparing myself mentally to wait until next summer. I only hope they give a long enough extension or allow us to hold on and not raise the 'ready to travel' form even if things sort out in the next 1-2 months.

Same here. I am also afraid of the time limits provided with the ETA. Lets see how does it go when NDVO opens.

It seems like I have been following this thread since ages, highly appreciate the spirit this group has put forward during the testing times!
My COPR expired on April 23rd,2020, was supposed to fly out (India-Canada)on 10th April with my husband. All plans shattered, no Vande bharat Relief for us!!I am stuck in a situation where i am expecting (33 weeks now -8 1/2 months), sent endless emails and forms informing my situation to IRCC since March (before the lockdown), even now, I haven’t received any case specific reply. Now that they’ve tweeted about giving ETA (finally after testing the patience of a lifetime ) I am not planning to send a ready to travel form as it poses a significant risk just worried about any changes from their end to my application status or decision if I travel after the delivery (adding a dependent child). I am waiting for them to reply as well.
Can someone guide me here please!

Adding a dependent will reopen application.. search on the forum for experience as people may have added new borns to their application.. take their timelines with a grain of salt 'cause these r unprecedented times

m no doctor but i think travelling 33 weeks pregnant wouldn't be advisable.. if u r willing to take the risk.. calculate everything carefully n go for it..

I have always found drafting a letter and attaching it as a pdf to webform, to be helpful in getting a proper response from ircc

Congratulations, and sorry to hear about the Canada situation. Long before covid, we were pregnant and went thru the following:
  • We had provided a handwritten letter to IRCC stating that we were expecting in 2 months while submitting our passports for PRV.
  • After delivery, we submitted requests to IRCC (and even the Canadian embassy I think) for letting us know the process for adding our babies as dependents.
  • They finally responded and opened our application ~3 months after delivery to add the babies as dependents and to submit their documents (passports and birth certificates).
  • Once we submitted this, we received their go ahead to do medical checkup for all applicants.
  • We received the request to submit passports immediately after our medicals were done.
  • We received fresh COPRs and PRVs - total 5 months from delivery.
  • Challenges:
    • Receiving response from IRCC for re-opening application took time. And this was pre-covid.
    • Getting birth certificate and passport for babies (in India) is time consuming.
  • Positives:
    • Although IRCC took time in re-opening the application, things went really really fast once the application was opened.
  • Suggestions:
    • Read the document that comes with COPR very very carefully. I think it mentions how change in situation should be communicated to IRCC, and validity of COPR in such cases. In our case, change in situation was birth of our babies.
    • Utilize time after delivery to get the baby's documents in place.
    • We applied for Adhaar ASAP after delivery. This eased the birth certificate process.
Feel free to send a PM if you want any additional details.

Below response received from NDVO after raising webform on the day Canada in India tweeted about raising webform if you are ready to travel. I don't think we should expect anything in the next few months also.

'Unfortunately, we’re unable to provide timelines on processing Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) extensions. We continue to work as quickly as possible to resolve issues for clients with expired COPRs.'

Hi Everyone,

Received one more ghost update today from NDVO. No changes to profile internally.

Raised a ready to travel webform last Monday. Not sure about what they have updated on the backend.

Earlier, on July 28, they gave an extension on medicals till Sept 25 and received the ghost update on the same day.
When was your COPR issued and expired
