Updating Proof of Funds Post-AOR? URGENT

Hi everyone,

I've recently submitted my application and have some concerns about how currency exchange fluctuations could affect my application. Right now I am above the minimum threshold by about ~200 CAD. I am afraid that at the time of review of my application the currency will drop even further causing my proof of funds to drop below the minimum threshold. I don't want to take any chances.

I would like to deposit ~500 CAD and submit an updated bank letter via the IRCC webform. Has anyone tried that? Will it work?

Thank you!

If I'm not mistaking, when you submit your application, it locks everything - test results, age, score, POF, ect...

I've read conflicting information on this forum. Some say it's ok (example), some that if the exchange rate drops after AOR, that could be grounds for rejection (example). So I don't really want to gamble and would prefer to submit a new bank letter via IRCC webform to mitigate this risk.

I understand what you are saying. Better to wait for people more knowledgeable about the situation...

They consider the exchange rate at the time of submission.

That said, if you were close to the threshold, and said exchange rate has changed since then, they could request a new POF from you, so be prepared for that, and ensure the balance you have in that account is above the threshold.

I'm ready to submit a new POF but it seems there's some conflicting info about it as some people said they received refusal straight up after the exchange rate drop (example). So to mitigate this risk I want to submit a new bank letter via IRCC webform. I just wonder if it'll work because updating POF does not fall in the list of "important changes" for using this form (contact information, births, deaths, marriages, divorces, adoptions, changes in employment, withdrawal of application, refund request, or urgent requests).

First of all the currency exchange as on the date of your application submission is taken into consideration. So you do not need to update. IRCC has clarified this on many occasions:

IF you wish to update, you can do it via CSE, webform. There is no need to be concerned.

@legalfalcon , thank you so much for this, this is incredibly useful! I'll take a note of their twitter account for future reference!

However, based on the very last tweet it seems that the test is whether "the rate changes a lot", so potentially the currency fluctuation could become a problem. I'll probably wait for a while and, if I see a significant drop, will re-upload the PoF via the webform.

During the processing of an application IRCC officers can ask for any documents at their discretion. Even if you meet the PoF, and ircc needs clarification, they can ask for additional documents. However, there is no point in speculation.

As long as you you have done what was required, you are good and need not worry.

Thanks! Waiting is so stressful, hard not to worry :) #gottastaypositive
