Thank you for your response. I read that case, too. And my husband and I are thinking about what way takes a greater risk. We are afraid that if we do not give information in advance, they will reject us right away when they start reviewing our application. What do you think?
I saw someone who applied from USA and he has the same situation as ur husband. He received the approval letter .

Do you know if he has submit any update on his status? So far, they have not even started reviewing my husband's application, even though he has submitted it on end March and gave biometrics on July 23.

On another note, I am not sure if this apply to any of you here. I finished my undergraduate degree in the U.S. on a F-1 visa. I applied for my study permit in March, and I graduated in June. I cannot return home due to travel restrictions and unbelievably expensive plane tickets. Since the Canadian Study Permit requires me to have a valid U.S. status when applying, I applied for Optional Practical Training in late June to maintain my legal status while I wait for a decision. According to my school's designated official, I may legally remain in the U.S. when my OPT application is pending even past the 60 days grace period.

I seriously doubt that I can hear back from IRCC before my 60 days grace period expires (on Aug 14th); therefore, I submitted a web form that explains my current situation with relevant documents. I submitted the web form last Friday, and I got a response today. They told me that they will forward these documents to the responsible office for consideration.

I really hope that we can hear back from them soon.
When you submitted the web form, has IRCC started reviewing your application? My husband's situation is similar to yours. The only different is he filed for change of status to become my dependent (F2). We are thinking about whether he should submit a web form now. His F1 grace period expires on Aug 29. He has given his biometrics on July 23 already, but IRCC still has not started the review.

I think the person who got approval and the person who are in grace period are two different persons (??) Anyway, thank you very much for the info.

Hello,

I think many of us here face this difficulty. I submitted my application almost 5 months ago in March. Back then, my status was fine. In my previous post, I mentioned that I submitted a web form last week to inform IRCC about the fact that I have applied for OPT to maintain my legal status in the U.S. given the extreme difficulty to go home. I have also attached relevant documents such as updated I-20, I-94, and a receipt from USCIS. About 3 days later, IRCC replied to me, and they told me that they will forward the new documents to the responsible office for consideration.

IRCC started reviewing my application one day after I submitted my biometrics, but I still have not received any correspondence letter or any other updates.

Same here, I have everything done in May. I think they are not giving out any study permit in the US even they promised to do so.

It sounds like before you submitted web form, IRCC has already started reviewing your application, right? My husband has given his biometrics since July 23, but IRCC still has not started the review.

I am not sure why they are not issuing passport request letters. It could be that the VAC in New York and Los Angeles are not open. This seems to be the case for many applicants in India. According to their (the applicants in India) posts, their GCMS notes said that they are approved for a study permit, but the applicants are not getting passport request letters because the VAC are closed. Maybe that is the same reason here.

Yes, that is right. There probably is a backlog of the applications since all of this started. However, I guess what says online right now is not very accurate since some applicants have this "Review of Eligibility" status for months now.

Actually, VFS in New York is open. The processing time changed from 11 weeks to 19 weeks.

Thanks for letting me know! I guess the processing time is for people who are submitting their application right now. Since we have submitted our application so long ago, I seriously doubt that this will be the case for us. I am sure that many of us here have waited more than 19 weeks. This is the 20th week for my application...
