Hi,
I was in Canada for 4 years and have what they call “established” residency so my travel would be non-option since I have an apartment for 2020-2021
but,
I’m just looking for some advice here. I know you all are not border agents. Just looking for friendly and useful advice.
My situation is: my current study permit expires in the end of August, but I can travel while it’s still valid and apply inside of Canada to extend my SP so I will be on implied status.
But, I have a very good living situation at home and it would be so much cheaper to stay back home. I’m super stressed because I cannot decide what to do. Staying home would be better for comfort, but some concerns related with staying home and only going back in winter is that if current restrictions are still there in winter and if I extend/get a new study permit from outside of Canada, can I be able to travel back if my study permit is issued after March 18, 2020 If the restrictions are the same? I did have a valid study permit on March 18th, 2020 if that matters.
What would you do if you would be me? I’m in my final year and I have two semesters left at uni. Also, do you think travel restrictions might get stricter by winter?
sorry it’s a mess but literally super lost and can’t decide. I feel sad leaving home when I don’t really have to be in Canada except my lease but I feel like if I don’t return I won’t be ever allowed to enter and will lose my opportunity?
Should I just go back before it expires and apply from inside of Canada and be on implied status or I’d better enjoy my time at home and apply from outside and just go back in Jan with a new study permit (since I was planning to visit home during Christmas anyways) ?
