Bro this is AIP because this line confirms it,
If the client is unable to provide any of the required documents, they will not be eligible to receive a preliminary eligibility assessment until they submit the information or documents requested of them (with the exception of biometrics, medical examinations and police certificates).
This means that the one you received is the AIP (which is the stage one of the approval steps).I think this preliminary eligibility assessment itself is AIP.
Your visa might get rejected based on the other documents. ie Police Certificate(if required) and medical.
Thanks that what I have understood but its just confusing. By the way I am a female LOL so its sis not bro

s a facilitation measure to support the fall 2020 intake of international students, the department is implementing a temporary 2-stage assessment process in which applicants will receive a notification from IRCC once they have passed the preliminary eligibility assessment (stage 1 of the 2-stage process) but before they give their biometrics.

There is no guarantee that the study permit application will be approved. For example, applicants who pass the preliminary eligibility assessment may still be refused based on eligibility reasons once biometrics are collected. Once services begin to resume, applicants who are able to submit missing information or documents previously requested of them will begin to do so, at which time the application will move into the second stage of processing and officers will process the application to finalization.

Eligibility for 2-stage assessment process
To be eligible for this 2-stage assessment process, applicants must have submitted a new study permit application electronically on or before September 15, 2020, and their program of study must begin in the fall 2020 (or earlier). The applicant must also submit all the documents needed in order for an officer to make a preliminary eligibility assessment. If the client is unable to provide any of the required documents, they will not be eligible to receive a preliminary eligibility assessment until they submit the information or documents requested of them (with the exception of biometrics, medical examinations and police certificates).

Applicants who receive a positive preliminary eligibility assessment will receive a letter in their MyAccount.

What we have is a notification not AIP from the above information from IRCC

So I think we have to wait for a letter in our account I guess.
we are damned..
based on this sentence
"There is no guarantee that the study permit application will be approved. For example, applicants who pass the preliminary eligibility assessment may still be refused based on eligibility reasons once biometrics are collected. "
So what does they mean by eligibility reasons? does that mean that they will again look at our applications for financials,DLI,family ties etc and reject us according to the mood of the particular VO handling the 2d stage approval ?
If yes then we are o_Oo_Oo_O

Yes but I am assuming its eligibity based on Biometric, medical and police record. But to be honest the whole information is just messed up they should just approve it or reject based on full application very frustrating and annoying.

Yes I got mixed answers of this... some says its AIP some say it's not. But the positive thing they have said is you can begin your course online... but one thing which confuses me is I have already completed my whole application yet I got partial approval

I hear some people are receiving the following email it is a kind of assurance of stage 1 approval or what ?

The COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges and affected daily life around the world. Restrictions continue to be in place, in Canada and elsewhere, that prevent many people from travelling internationally.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada recognizes that restrictions have had an impact on applicants seeking a high-quality educational experience in Canada. Throughout the pandemic, IRCC has taken measures to provide flexibility to international students.

As a study permit applicant, you may have also been affected by office closures that prevented you from providing police certificates, immigration medical examinations or biometrics when you submitted your application.

On July 14, 2020, we introduced two-stage processing for study permit applications. This temporary process provides reassurance to you.

At this time, there is nothing for you to do. Your application is still in progress.

With the two-step process, applicants who pass an initial eligibility assessment will be notified via their online IRCC account (MyAccount). As services begin to re-open, applicants will be able to submit missing information, if necessary, for their admissibility assessment, at which time officers will finalize the application process. For more information on study permits and what is assessed at each stage, please visit our website.

First-stage approval doesn’t guarantee that we’ll eventually approve your application. However, when a study permit application is refused, it is due to eligibility factors in most cases.

This two-stage process will only apply to study permit applications submitted by September 15, 2020. Our goal is to provide first-stage assessment for all study permit applications that have been submitted in time for the fall semester.

Once an applicant is fully approved for a study permit, they will be ready to travel to Canada when travel restrictions are lifted.

This is not stage 1 approval which arrives separately and I agree this email just added to the confusion and anxiety.

I am.now finding it very difficult to hold back.emotionally now. It's 2 weeks before my daughter should be in Quebec starting a degree she applied for 48 weeks ago and studied 2 years for to gain 2 high school diplomas. She got a scholarship. She got the room she wanted. She has 100s of pages of paperwork, her suitcase is packed to leave with an hours notice.

She's now faced with her only way of having contact with classmates who are international and allowed to travel by WhatsApp Facebook etc. Orientation week she has been billed for starts in a week. She has only photos and videos of her classrooms, campus etc. It's shit. It feels very unfair. Other international students entered as US and returning. She is banned.

But this line confuses me
