Hi guys, I have read that many oath ceremonies are virtual. I took my citizenship test in February but I went to visit my family and airports were closed in my family´s country for the pandemic. Do you think I might take the oath virtually if I am physically outside Canada?

I read in the forum that you have to be in Canada for oath taking, very important requirement.

In the email inviting me that have advised me to confirm the following immediately:
1. Confirm mailing address where Citizenship certificate will be mailed.
2. Expiry date and numbers of all PR Cards
3. Know how to use Zoom
4. You are currently present in Canada
5. Have a blank ink pen and pair of scissors at the time of oath.
I have confirmed all above one day before my oath ceremony. Even the host before the oath process begins he confirmed
all above and when he was satisfied that the Honorable administer me the oath for Citizenship.

You will have to be present in Canada to take the oath. They make you confirm your location at the start of the ceremony.
You also will have to cut up your PR card on camera so you may not be able to re-enter Canada without it, as they will only mail your certificate to a Canadian address, and you need it to apply for a passport.

Yup, and if anyone tries to be funny and get around it, please don't ruin it for the rest of us.
People who try to work around will be stuck and will severe consequences. At the end, it's not worth it...

I don't care about the consequences for them, I care about the consequences for ME when the government pulls this idea and delays the process for everyone else because some funny people abused their trust.
