Hi, my husband is PR in canada and was suppose to become a citizen this april, but due to lockdown that didn't happen. I wanted to know whether he can go forth with his status change i.e. from being a PR to citizen while our application is under process. What cha ges do we have to make if we go ahead with this idea or should we wait till the processing gets completed?

You can go ahead now, as long as he remains in Canada (except for short trips), as a resident PR can sponsor. It can't hurt to include a short letter noting that he has citizenship application pending.

Were you married after he became a PR?
Yes..and our application was sent with him being a sponsor with PR status. Now that everythng seems to delay, we were thinking that he should atleast get his citizenship if does not cause issues with our application process.

How long would these short trips should be?

Sorry I misread the order of applying to sponsor and citizenship. He can go ahead and apply for citizenship. Nothing unusual there.
