Photos for proof of relationship

Hi all,

I have a related question:
The document checklist "IMM5443E - Spouse or Common-Law Partner in Canada" states that "photographs of the marriage or common-law relationship ceremony" should be enclosed with the application.
Perhaps it's just me, but I never heard of any "common-law relationship ceremony".
I have been living for 4 years now in a common-law relationship with my partner and never had any such thing.

Which photos should I attach in this case? Can I just attach whatever seems relevant to help proving the authenticity/severance of our relationship?

Some people have a ceremony to prove their commitment to each other, like a wedding ceremony. You don't need to have done this, though, to get approved via common law.

Which photos should I attach in this case? Can I just attach whatever seems relevant to help proving the authenticity/severance of our relationship?

Any photos that show your relationship is authentic are fine. Try to get photos spanning the full length of your relationship, photos with each other's friends and family, and some non-posed candid shots.

I have my interview in Sept and I am trying to gather more evidence to present to the IO and one of them is pictures. Now, I have been bugging my partner for us to select over 100-200 digital pictures and send to Wal-Mart to print. My VO is Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

From what I am understanding here is it's absolutely normal and cool to send off printed photos with descriptions in a MS Word document and you can hand it in either black and white or colored. I really would like to get some more feedback because this will make life way much simpler and easier if we can save on printing at Wal Mart and just spend on the ink and paper to arrange our pictures.

Has anyone had any problems printing their pictures in Black and White or Color and send off to their VO?

You help is really appreciated.

I have sent my application in, it hasn't been approved yet. But, I did a MS document and printed it in B&W

I did a Word doc with pics and no other actual photos. No problems.

i just sent my application off with 4 x 6 photos stuck on peices of paper, 2 or 3 to each paper explaining whos in them and the date they were taken. after reading all your replys im woundering if this is considered as a photo album?? or do they just mean no rings or anything metal... my printer wasnt working so i had to print them at one of those kodak kiosks, do you think this is going to be a problem?

You're fine. They just don't want them bound in an album. Stuck to paper is okay.

Here, though, you are wondering what to do about the photos your partner takes to the interview, right?
In our case, the visa officer just quickly flipped through the loose photos my husband brought to the interview. I don't think she would have taken the time to read captions, if there had been any.
Does anyone else have any experience with showing photos to the visa officer at the interview? IMO, loose photos are better in this case.

IF we are have an interview I wouldn't put them in a document. I'd have them loose or perhaps in an album in order.

I stand corrected. I should have read more thoroughly that you are taking them to the interview. I would have loose 4x6s in an envelope. Not too many either, maybe 20 tops.
