Hello,

I came to know that at the time of test or interview the officers ask for certified translations of visas or Stamps on passport.

Can someone through some light on this.

Is it needed to get the translation of stamps done.

Is there any list of certified translators which are approved by IRCC

Thanks

Not only stamps, any content including noting, pasted visas etc. in the document needs to be translated.

Translation of documents

You must submit the following for any document that is not in English or French, unless otherwise stated on your document checklist:

the English or French translation; and

an affidavit from the person who completed the translation (if they’re not a certified translator); and

a certified copy of the original document.

Important information: Translations must not be done by the applicants themselves nor by an applicant’s parent, guardian, sibling, spouse, common-law partner, conjugal partner, grandparent, child, aunt, uncle, niece, nephew or first cousin.

If the translation is not done by a certified translator (a member in good standing of a provincial or territorial association of translators and interpreters in Canada), you must submit an affidavit swearing to the accuracy of the translation and the language proficiency of the translator.

An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a person authorized to administer oaths in the country where the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document.

Translators who are certified in Canada don’t need to supply an affidavit. The affidavit must be sworn in the presence of:

In Canada:

a notary public

a commissioner of oaths

a commissioner of taking affidavits

Authority to certify varies by province and territory. Consult your local provincial or territorial authorities.

Outside of Canada:

a notary public

Authority to administer oaths varies by country. Consult your local authorities.

Hello

There is nothing mentioned about the Stamps on passports.

For passports it said only biographical pages only. Not all pages where visas or stamps exists.

My understanding is,

At the time of applying only biographical pages of passport are requested. If not in English/French, needs to be translated to French / English.

For the Citizenship interview the original passport, and at this time any page/ content that is not in English /French need to be translated.
The officer need this to validate with the Physical Presence Calculator /Residency Form CIT0407 provided to verify meeting conditions under Subsection 5(1) of Citizenship Act. (Some countries provide dual languages..and if one of that is English or French, then translation is not required)

They will see the stamps for only the five year eligibility period on the current passport.
or

all previous expired passports too

thanks

To my understanding, for residency obligation, they only need 5 years. But, they also use the same set of documents for Identity cross verification for the periods before..and particularly the basis for questions like, q4, q5, q6, q13 and Security confirmation related like q16(5), q16(9), .so the officer can confirm that you are compliant under Part 1(Sections 3 -6) of the Citizenship Act.
So they may ask for ALL pages and ALL previous passports with translations during the interview. But there are also cases reported in the forum that in their Citizenship Interview they were never asked for these translations though they prepared for the same.
