What if my visitor extension gets denied while app is in process?

Hello everyone!
I am a bit confused about my situation and really appreciate any insights.
I have applied for visitor record which haven’t been processed yet. So i am on implied status. I’ll be sending my application in July, while I am on implied status as the visitor record is taking 4 months to process right now.
I will send the owp app with my inland sponsorship.
If my extension gets denied, will I still be on implied status as I sent in the owp+inland app when I was on legal status(implied)?

You will be on implied status from the owp, but if the sponsorship & owp application gets sent back you're out of status and you'll need to apply for restoration. In that case you would not be eligible for the owp anymore, since you need legal status for that.

Thanks for replying! I really appreciate it. I was just being worried about my extension getting denied as I am sending my owp+Pr app while on implied status. Thank you! That gives me some sort of relief.

I'm actually in the exact same boat as you I applied for my extension in february and am still waiting, and I applied for the sponsorship and owp at the beginning of may. I hope I hear back from the extension soon, and if it gets denied I'll apply for restoration just in case the owp gets sent back.

Exactly same situation! I hope you get it. It’s just that the restoration application scares me a lot because if that gets denied you have to leave or a deportation order comes in while extension rejection still means you can apply for restoration or just wait for the sponsorship to be approved as it doesn’t require a legal status.

I’m in the same boat. Applying for common law sponsorship. I had a PGWP which expired may 5th. I applied to extend my stay as a visitor and hoping for the best. I have heard of many cases being approved. Usually when they are approved assuming you’ve explained your situation in your letter of explanation they give up to a year visitors record during the processing of Sponsorship+OWP app. Best of luck to you.

It would have been better to send it your inland sponsorship application first & than applied for an extension because you could have put on the extension form that you filed for immigration. If your status ran out probably should not have waited so long to file.

Status did not run out. He/she is maintaining legal status because they applied for a visitor record before their previous status expired. Also we are in a global pandemic so some documentation needed for the applications are currently unavailable. I am sure IRCC will recognize that upon clients submitting applications. Also do not worry! Canada prioritizes bringing family together.
