The story here is that I am the Canadian husband who successfully sponsored his Filipina wife to Canada. She has a permanent residence and job here in Canada now. But she had 2 kids from a previous relationship that have been left back in the Philippines. The reason for this is that we thought it would be better if we got situated a little more here in Canada and saved some money while living at my parents for a while, so we could afford a down payment on a house for the kids.
But now with this COVID stuff and China tensions or what not things are looking a little more dicey every day. Now we do have signed document from the former spouse saying that he's OK with the kids immigrating to Canada and we are working on their application.
But is there any chance we can get them over here in Canada for a while. The wifes sister is taking care of them and we are sending them money, which is helping them out a lot but this is a difficult situation with the COVID and all and being separated on other sides of the world and all. I seek to normalize the situation as much as possible and don't see why there would be a problem... it's not like the kids are going to flee or anything.
