Hello Folks,

Thank you for tsking the time to read this. So I got temporary lay-off due to isolation and hence Im falling 2 months short on the application for filing under CEC. My work permit is due to expire in 80 days and I dont have LMIA.

So my question is, has anyone ever requested extention of work permit without an LMIA/ NON-LMIA? Like simply requesting extention via a letter?
Any pandemic relief extension that anyone has hint of?
Ps: Ive heard that people used to send letters of extention with SOP. Does that work anymore?

IRCC has announced several exceptions to immigration rules due to COVID-19. However unfortunately this is not one of them so far. If you apply for a work permit extension without an LMIA, then you should expect it will be refused. Including a SOP won't make a difference.

You can see the full list of exceptions to rules here. If there are any others added, they will be posted here.

It's certainly possible IRCC may make further announcements. But again, nothing so far that helps you.
