My partner is making a visa application to Canada, however they had a peiod in a mental institution about 15 years ago where they spent 1 month there. Since then my partner visited the local doctor about Depression and Anxiety problems about 5-6 years ago. She subsequently received some group therapy but discontinued it and has since recovered, and has not seen her GP for mental health issues for the last 5 years.
Will these two mental health episodes affect my partners chance of attaining permanent visa status as part of the application?
And will my partners medical record be sought to confirm this and any other medical issues.
As I said earlier my partner has been perfectly well for the last 5 years.
This issue has been worrying me a little as I I'm nervous my partners history willl be used to from a negative outcome in the application process.
Advance thanks
