Got Work Permit and Status Restored on April 21, 2020. Last year income $9,000

Hello everyone,
I want to know if I am eligible for CERB. Actually I have a CLOSED WORK PERMIT. My closed work permit got approved on April 21. My employer said he cannot give a job for at least 3 months from now. My income last year was around $9000. I worked with the same employer before my work permit was expired.

No, you would have had to have LOST your job
You never worked a day on the new work permit
And you stopped working prior on the old work permit because it expired

U r eligible. IT doesnt matter u worked a day or not.. but u need to get a letter from ur employer on company letter head with the reason of ur lay off including the dates in the letter. Most importently, ur job layoff should have been directly or indirectly impacted by COVID19. U Shall recieve the funds for now but be ready for later stage..u will have to prove ur eligibility

No, they’d need a ROE issued stating shortage of work
A letter from the company means nothing

The work permit was just approved recently and businesses have been closed for a month or more. There was no job to actually start and OP knew there was no job and should have been making alternate plans or not travelling to Canada. This isn’t a job loss when a job hasn’t started.

You don’t qualify. You lost your job because your previous permit ran out not due to covid.
