Hello guys,

I’m at 468 and already received ITA today (very unexpectedly) as most of you I imagine.

I’ve been reading a lot of comments and bugs my mind that people feel so entitled to receive an ITA while they have never put their foot on this country.

I just want to point out a few things for people who are awaiting an invitation and did not qualify under the PNP/CEC program:

A LOT of international students with valid and skilled work experience (like me) or foreign workers already in Canada have been struggling to get an ITA lately since the raise in the score.

We have spent a LOT of time/money and effort to be able to live here already. Our commitment of being great and contributing to this society need to be part of the criteria when selecting EE candidates. We pay taxes and contribute in so many different ways.

This CEC-only round should have been done a a long ago to give people ALREADY here a pathway to permanent residence. We have made a commitment to be here and make our lives here. Not all of us have perfect scores but we do meet requirements set to settle permanently.

I have been waiting for a long time and I have a great IELTS score (overall 8) so it’s not fair that we are put in the back burner to bring people who have no idea where they are going.

I still think that, of course, we must give a path to very skilled applicants to apply, however, priority should always be for applicants with Canadian education and work, which in my opinion is not weighted properly.

My question for those outside: Why do you think you should be prioritize over people who are already here?

It’s a bit unfair in my opinion to allow people who just for the fact of having “more experience” Or even a bit more language proficiency (which I also think it goes past a 2 hour exam) to come here, and guess what. Many of them cannot adapt quickly and find a job in their field.

My thought is for all people who are already here and have been waiting! Be patient and your ITA will come!
I honestly believe your way of thinking is very selfish (#sorry). I do support the current CRS score criteria, that delivers a HUGEEEE benefit of points to those who have Canadian education and Canadian experience. As you mentioned, you spent a plethora of money in that project, and therefore, you deserve to have the opportunity to settle in the country.
On the other hand, Express Entry exists as a way to bring the most skilled professionals to the country. It's not a program for "pay your international tuition and get your permanent residency as a bonus". In my opinion, an outland candidate that can surpass an inland candidate (even with the inland's huge point benefits for education and work experience) simply deserves to be accepted, as he has a clearly superior professional background, compared to the inland candidate.

I'm currently 30. I got my Engineer degree, I got my postgraduate degree, I worked for over 6 years in that field, I got CLB10 in all 4 skills (even though I never lived outside my non-English country), I learned french in 3 months to add additional points to my profile, and then here I'm at 475. I'm sorry, but if an inland candidate can't match my score (even with me already losing 5 points due to my age), it's not my fault.
I would love to study in Canada, but unfortunately I do not have the background of a rich family to support for my ultra expensive international student tuition.

Just accept it: CRS criteria is SUPER generous with inland candidates, and at the same time is super fare when it comes to outstanding outland candidates that excelled in their carriers and language skills. So, it's a competition. Deal with it. Stop complaining.

I think they should just compile a list of in demand NOC's and do only NOC specific draws since they will have a high chance of getting a job in the future and the candidates will not have to go through the hassle of getting a PNP nomination.
They just leave that decision up to the provincial governments. I guess provinces are more likely to react faster to the changes in their own economies than is the federal government. Plus PNP requires an applicant to stay and work in that particular province, which serves the purpose of the nominations.

CRS calculation doesn't take into account how great your careers is. It just gives you points based on years you worked. That's it. Preferring those who are already established in the country would be fare.
On the other hand, it's in the power of the government to design the scoring system. If created it in the current way, then they apparently think that the system works properly to the benefit of the country.

Pure speculation, but I wonder how they will go about verifying occupations and employment history with so many companies closed due to Covid-19?
They can't and the recent draw is indicating that they want to focus on inland applicants. If no draw happens on April 1st or a Non FSW draw happens again, this will mean that they have given up on outland applicant's without PNP nominations. I am sure there are plenty of inland candidates in 430+ range so they don't have to worry about getting new inland profiles for a while atleast. And for outland applicants who got ITA's recently, they can just ignore their applications and not process them.

but I have English and Canadian employers on my work history, if they wanted to call and verify I’d guess most or all of them are closed for the foreseeable future

Yes, they do not measure it directly, but indirectly, based on the amount of years you spend studying, years of work experience, knowledge of the language (e.g, usually professionals who have a high proficiency of English, living in a non-english country, will have higher salaries), etc.

I just don't get how somehow could think that an international student, with no previous professional background, 1 yr of a so-so college program (let's face it), CLB9 and 1 yr of canadian experience at an entry level position can be of a better value to the Canadian economy than someone who mastered the language tests (sometimes, more than 1 language test), has many years of professional experience and many different levels of education (bachelor, master's, sometimes even Phds). Yet, the CRS score would score these 2 candidates very similarly... I just can't think that Canada is already giving more than enough points to these international students. But I don't complain, because I know they devoted a huge amount of money to be where they are.

hello! I just got invitation as well ( I am sooo happy)! I thought the first thing i am gonna do is book for my medical exam. I have been trying to find it but i can not see where to update. Could you please tell me where to find ?
Congratulations on your ITA...Regarding medicals i think you can't take upfront medicals as Canadian embassy suspended it till further notice due to covid (FSW-outland application-India )....not sure about your situation though.I am just left with medical exam only (as i received ITA on 19 feb),however waiting for situation to improve else will submit without medicals and LOE.Please let me know if you get any other information or anyone else in this forum any update regarding medical exam situation.

Just answer every question in the application then it will lead you to the submission page with a list of all the documents you need to submit. Normally they did not require your Canada PCC. Mine was not asked for PCC for the time I am in Canada.

Got an ITA as well. Not sure how to handle Canadian Police Cert as all offices closed LOL
You don't need to provide a Canadian Police Cert. As per the this link: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/application/medical-police/police-certificates/how/canada.html

Applying for permanent residence
You don’t need to provide a police certificate when you apply for permanent residence in Canada.

The information says they'll inform you if they need one regardless of if you are currently in Canada or not. It appears you only need Police Certs for countries outside of Canada you may have lived in for 6+ months, unless specifically requested.

Correct me if I'm wrong though...

“Deadline for responding to an ITA
Upon receipt of an ITA, a candidate has 60 calendar days to do one of the following:

- Submit a complete application for permanent residence (APR) in their online account. This includes providing all supporting documentation up front.

-Decline the ITA in their online account”

As the CIC website states that there are 60 days to submit the application after receiving ITA but somehow mine is 90 days. Is it strange or because of Covid-19?
