So with Canada about to limit the border traffic due to Covid-19, people who commute between Canada-U.S. with H1B visa (including myself) may experience some difficulties. I thought we can have a thread to keep track of the changes and help each other here.

Expect to be limited to working remotely from Canada. Canada needs to limit people bringing daily exposures from the US. I would be talking to your employer today.

Closing borders to people who are neither citizens nor PR's of Canada
I think people working in the US and crossing daily are at high risk of bringing in covid so will likely be asked to stay on one side. The statement is really for those crossing once not going back and forth especially since many cases are coming from the US.

Once you lieave the US you should receive a document agreeing to quarantine for 14 days. Commuting back and forth would be a huge risk for virus transmission
Would speak to your employer about working from home.

Closing the US border is also being discussed. You create a big

How would you be able to self-isolate for 14 days after entering Canada? If you are following the directions you will likely be asked to sign you will break the self-isolation if you back to work the next day.
Not required. Its also mentioned in the same link.
"certain kinds of workers who need to cross the Canada-U.S. border will be exempted from requirements to self-isolate"

Not issues for the time being.

The need to commute across the border is likely referring to health workers
