Phone calls from an Immigration officer

Hi there,

recently we had to let out representative go and change our address on the ircc website because I think all the correspondance was going to the lawyer. Today I received an email that the change of address was not changed correctly and was given instructions on how to change it.

Shortly after, i recieved a phone call from a woman looking for my husband and she wouldn't really tell me much of what it was about. She asked for his contact number. Turns out she wanted to confirm email and home address. She gave me a phone number for him to call her back directly. He called and confirmed the information. Afterwards, i was sort of leary about the call and tried to look the number up, but it isn't linked to any office.

Is this normal? Do immigration officers do this? Why do they call? Wound his inland application finally be under review? He has a removal date for the end of the month and we are currently waiting for step one approval for his PR. Any light shed would be appreciated!

Is it possible the call was from CBSA?
She said she was from immigration. We had a meeting with CBSA yesterday and they have all our information and we are supposed to call in again the day before his flight.

Im really hoping this is in connection with his PR application because if we get this stage 1 approval before his flight, he can stay!

hey there! So last year when this happened it was right before the pandemic was declared. The IRCC wanted his email to send communication as there was some information missing from my husbands H&C consideration component. He has a removal scheduled for mar 26/20. They wanted me to send what was missing and they would review it before the removal and hopefully approve stage 1. The pandemic postponed his removal and bought us time to gather missing documentation.
From March-September we were asked to go for the immigration medical, get stage 1 approval and CoPR and then he received his PR card in October. I did hire a very good lawyer to help the process so I don’t know if that helped our process move along quickly or if they are trying to clear up backlogs of applications.
All I can say is do exactly what they say and if they’re asking for something send it right away
