Confusing information regarding proof of financial support for student visa

You dont need IELTS for acceptance nor is it a requirement for a study permit but you need to convince the officer that your language skills are proficient enough to do well in your program. This can be conveyed through your essays, highlighting particular english courses from your transcript or your program.

For example, I am originally from a non speaking English country but I did my undergrad in the US which I am sure was enough to avoid providing an IELTS.

You can prove your funds with

• proof of a Canadian bank account in your name, if you've transferred money to Canada
• Guaranteed Investment Certificate (GIC) from a participating Canadian financial institution
• proof of a student or education loan from a bank
• your bank statements for the past 4 months
• a bank draft that can be converted to Canadian dollars
• proof you paid tuition and housing fees
• a letter from the person or school giving you money or
• proof of funding paid from within Canada, if you have a scholarship or are in a Canadian-funded educational program

Thanks Mr tapperb but am proving this with a bank statement all am saying is I printed a bank statement of 6months from July 2019- December 2019 with an end balance of 10m and overall transaction of 170m and I left it pending over a month now I want to apply for visa now in February 2020 can I still use this bank statement..

Hello Guys, Was going through this post and I would appreciate some advice. Let say I have Zero CAD$ now. And I would like to apply for SDS. I realise I have to have 10000$ for GIC. Regarding the Course fees that I have to pay, can I show it as a Education Loan. If so, the loan should be from where I am staying now or in Canada?

You need to show that you have enought funds to cover your entire tuition plus 10,000 CAD for living expenses.

I have been admitted to Conestoga college for global business management for may 2020(1 academic year course 8 months) and i have paid full year tuition fee and $10,000 CAD as GIC already. So do i have to show any other proof of funds for sds profile?

Some previous information i would like to highlight

I have applied for visa in jan 2020 for S.T Clair college (international business management - logistics systems 2 year course ) and got rejection TWICE

Application reviewed. Applicant has been accepted into SL Clair College to undertake the International Business
Management program. Applicant holds a Bachelor of Commerce. Chosen program at such expense appears illogical/redundant in light of applicant's reported scholarly/work history.. Applicant provides evidence of a GIC
however, no further proof of funds sucH as bank account balances, etc. Given previous academic/employment
history, motivation to pursue studies in Canada at this point does not appear reasonable given that a comparative course is offered in their home country. Study plan submitted is general and does not outline a clear career path for which such an educational program would be of beneficial. The applicant has failed to satisfy
me that the course of studies is reasonable in Canada given weighed against the potential career/employment benefits. Applicant has failed to demonstrate sufficient level of establishment of ties to home country that would
compel them to depart Canada. On balance of probabilities, I am not satisfied applicant is a bona fide student
Application refused.

Since this time i have applied for 1 year course only, do i still need to show the funds. Also any further advice on this case would be really appreciated.

For SDS proof of additional funds is not required. Looks like the major issue is that your letter of explanation is not enough given that you have previous commerce background. I would focus on that. For SDS, they only ask for the two financial proofs.

I don't think studying business with commerce background is an issues, I think it has something to do with logistics which was the specialisation in previous selected course. And yes i am focusing on SOP and cover letter this time. Im bit worried about justifying the level of establishment of ties because I don't have something concrete proofs like land or something since my parent are not together and i stay with my mother. Does an asset certificate from a CA works if i show an house which is in redevelopment and gold holdings etc?

That's better than nothing. Show as much proof as you can. Absence of documents will only leave room for doubt for VO

Quick question! I have two different savings accounts both are on my name but my parents mostly do the deposits which is more than enough CIC is demanding. We already paid the whole year tuition fee and first semester dormitory fee. I am currently unemployed because I did language training abroad. What I am wondering is that if I just submit the bank statements i think VO will wonder where that money come from so my parents financial status would be also needed to be submitted right?

I need a quick clarification on SDS process. They are asking for a proof to show them that we paid tuition fee for an year. But the university fee payment is term based. So, should I have to show them the proof of my 1st term fee payment and proof of financial support for the next terms or Will my 1st fee payment alone suffice??

As per the sds qualifying criteria, the student must have paid 1 year of tuition to apply through sds method. 1 semester fee won't be eligible for sds filing. 1 semester tuition payment is allowed when you are applying the visa in general category.

There are many universities and colleges who allow to start the term with just 1 semester fee payment however,In SDS method it is specifically mentioned that payment of 1 year tuition payment is compulsory.So until you pay your remaining tuition fee of one year you can't apply through sds category. Additionally you have to make $10k CAD payment as GIC in any canadian bank for applying though sds visa. Since you have applied in university you can apply with university visa category.
