PR sponsorship for child born outside Canada to permanent resident parents

I am trying to fill forms for my twins in that there is one form called IMM5481 , In that they currently asking for Current undertaking and previously undertaking. kinldy please guide what shell i put there. like i will be sponsor for both my twins . please give your suggestions.

This is explained right on the form. Current undertaking is box 3 of IMM0008 and previous undertakings are previous sponsorships.

Did you actually sponsor them or did they just apply for TRVs? Those are VERY different situations.

I need advice on similar Query - Me and my husband have received PR for Canada and visa got stamped. We need to land up Canada before March 2019. In last few months we discovered that we are going to be parents. My due date is April 2019. Initially we planned to go land in Canada and myself to come back India for delivery. How long does it take to add new born to PR & what is the process ? Is it recommended to stay back in Canada and give birth there ? We are so confused. Please advice .

I am also in a similar situation currently. We have got the PPR and expecting COPR in few days.

We have come to know that my wife is pregnant and currently expected delivery will be in September end. So now we are confused whether we both should move (she will move by June to get a buffer time for Ontario Health Insurance to kick in) and give the birth in Canada, OR she just does a soft landing in Canada and comes back to delivery in India. Post that we will have to wait for child PR through sponsorship for them to travel again?
This is considering there are no relatives in Canada and also I will have to search for job once I land over there (though we have decent funds from India as well).

Also are there any benefits that child will not get, or we will not get (Child care benefit) if we apply through sponsorship PR?
What would be the timeline for getting sponsorship PR for the new born child?

If she plans to give birth here, she should be moving sooner than June. Babies are often born early.

If the child is born in India, one of you will have to move to Canada for the sponsorship process. You can apply for a TRV and if refused, a TRP, but no guarantee of approval.

Not sure what you mean about the benefits. Qualifying for CCB doesn't matter if the child is a Canadian citizen or PR.

Would add that the a parent must be in Canada to sponsor a child. If in India you can try to bring the baby to Canada on a TRV. If denied you can try a TRP. If the baby arrives on a TRV he/she may not have healthcare for up to a year.

Agree that babies come early. Even if you have health coverage starting at 36 weeks you may end up paying for a delivery. CCB only applies if the child is in Canada with you. If you have the baby in Canada you must meet the residency requirements to receive healthcare in that province. Depending on the province you are commitring to remain in the province for 6-12 months. I would look up the various health plans. Unless you work for 600 hours in the year before delivery you don’t qualify for maternity leave payments.

Hello all, I have a similar question. My partner and I are both Canadian permanent residents, live here full time and we are not married yet. I am from New Zealand and have had my PR for about 7 years and my partner is Australian and has had her PR for 3 years. She is pregnant and due in late in the year and we are considering traveling to Australia or New Zealand just before the birth and staying there for around 2 months so we can have the birth and initial time around family, but are wondering if it going to create a lot of issues for us/our child as compared to just having the birth here in Canada and it becoming a Canadian citizen at birth.
So the questions I have are:
1)As the child would be born in NZ or Australia to a parent with citizenship to that country then the child will automatically become a citizen of that country, so my understanding is that as both those countries are visa exempt countries then our newborn will just need a passport from its birth country and an ETA to to enter with us, is that correct?
2) Once back in Canada we would need to apply for PR for newborn and renew its visa exemption/ETA every 6 months until its PR is granted, is that correct?
3) As the child will initially not be even a PR in Canada will it be ineligible for any health care and/or any other services we might not have considered?

1. Yes, eTA and passport.

2. Yes. You renew visitor status, not an eTA.

3. Health coverage is provincial. You need to look at the requirements for your province to see if the child would be covered.

Ok great thanks. I also have 1 other question: I will become a Canada citizen early next year so will that change/improve/speed up the situation for my child or does the process of applying for PR then eventually citizenship remain the exactly same for said child?
