Hello guys

I m living Canada and i m going vacation for 3 days to usa.
When i am going usa we have 1 tax duty free shop before usa border ,
for example can i buy 1 box of cigarette? Should i declare when i m passing cross border usa?cause i m living Canada and i m going tk usa only for vacation?
As i know when i m coming back to Canada there isn't problem cause i ll be in usa for 48 hours.
Thanks

You need to declare the value of goods you brought and tell the items what you bought.
Usually they dont worry to list each and every item but if its tobacco/alcohol then you should compulsorily declare these items even if they dont ask.
We travel daily and bring items sometimes few days in a row. There is no issue in that. Just tell what items have been bought and what was the total amount.

This post doesn’t belong on this Citizenship forum, but here is the link to customs exemptions allowances for travelling Canadian residents:

Are you leaving the item in the states ? Yes or no
If no, the states won't care . Tell them you bought it, but will be taking it back
If yes, declare it

Its the same procedure. You have to declare it at US end.

1. If i buy 1 box of cigarrete which i allow to buy still need to declare?
2. I tought i need to declare something when i need to pay tax for that or it 's over?
1. Yes, doesnt matter whats allowed and whats not. Goods value need to be declared even if its under allowable limits.
2. No, it doesnt matter if you already paid tax or not. In some states there is no tax - it doesnt mean the other country would allow you to take it freely.
Also some officers allow you even if its above few 100z. So it all depends on how much amount and the officer who assess.

As i understood even if it is under allowance i should declare. Is that right?

Correct. Especially its mandatory if you have tobacco, alcohol(or other goods such as fruits/vegetables etc).
