Hi, I have a few questions about the visa extension here in Canada. I know the current processing time for visa extension is 120 days and and I'm going to have "Implied status" since I'm going to send my application 30 days before my 6 months limit. Here is my questions:

1. On the guide, I need to pay for biometrics so what happen to the $80 for biometrics if they refuse my visa extension?
2. What happen if my visa extension is denied? Will they give me enough time to leave Canada.
3. If my visa extension is denied, will it become a bad record if I'm going to reapply for a new visa?

1. Nothing. You don't get a refund. On the other hand, the biometrics are valid for 10 years, so you won't need to do that again for any application made in the next 10 years.

2. Yes, you are given a reasonable time to leave (7-15 days). You can't hang around for months. Technically, you are out of status and overstaying, but the government knows that it takes a few days to wrap stuff up. As long as you leave within a reasonable period, it will not affect future applications.

3. Not necessarily. You will have to tell them about it, that's all. If you can show that you followed the rules, and you left as soon as you could once the visa extension was rejected, you will be OK.

just some clarification.
1. Do I give them my biometrics even if i get denied? I read on the guide that they will send me a letter on where to send my biometrics? do they send the letter about biometrics before i get the result of my application?

2. So like if my visa extension application is denied on June 9, 2020 (for example), does the 7-15 days start the day i received the mail (because I apply on paper) or the day they denied my application?

1. Yes, you will have to give biometrics even if they subsequently reject your application. You get that letter first, give the biometrics, and then they make a decsion.

2. If the extension is refused, the applicant is considered in status until the day the decision is made on their application.

So you start overstaying from the day they make the decision, not the day you get notified. Typically that's only a few days apart - the decision is made on Monday, you get the email on Monday and the letter on Thursday, so it's not a big deal .

Thanks. Now I feel relieved.

When will we receive a letter from cic to do Biometric? If I submitted the extension application in 2 months ago and I still have not received the letter to ask me to do so. Is it normal?
