Quick question about document checklist?

Hey all,

I am in the process of gathering all the forms my spouse and I need before we submit everything. I am just wondering, when it comes to checking off things from the document checklist, do we check off the forms we don't need to attach AND write not applicable beside the boxes? Or just write not applicable and leave the boxes unchecked?
