Work permit extension

Hi, when i applied for my post gradutaion work permit, i didnt get it for complete 3 years. Instead i got it for 2 years and 7 months because my passport was expiring. I am applying for the remaining 5 months through mail which has a processing time of 107 days. I wanted to know what will be the start date of my new permit will it start from the day they issued it or will it continue from the next date of my current work permits expiry date? It will be a great help. Thank you in advance.

You will not get extra time beyond the 3 years.
