I don't think you can get a visitor visa while the sponsorship process is underway. You can get rejected for pr and essentially claim asylum or try for inland sponsorship if you were to get a visitor visa.
You can not get rejected for PR if you apply for a VV while applying outland, the worst that can happen is they say NO. if its a yes then if an interview is requested they go home for the interview. I personally know several spouses who have gotten VV while applying outland. That is 100% wrong to state it could result in denial of a PR

I am January 7 2019 applicant. I got this response from my MP today:

I was able to speak with IRCC today. Everything looks great on your sponsorship application, many items have passed, medical, criminality, and backgrounds. The file is moving through eligibility at this time. There is a bring forward date of January 31st.

Does any know what a bring forward date is and what is involved in the PA's eligibility?

proofs that the relationship is true and genuine, proofs of the marriage happened (photos , guests , ceremony , parents, festivity, all) and so on. Basically they verify the claim that the PA has the title of "wife or husband" or Common law partner is another possibility

I didn't mean you would get rejected for PR. I meant you would get your Vistor Visa Denied. If your PR was to be rejected, you could end up over staying.

Is that common to do that last? And what is a bring forward date of January 31st mean?

Yes, eligibility is one of the last things that is usually done, altho as you know they can change the order as they want.

A bring forward date is simply part of a "bf" system that diarizes a file for a particular date so that it isn't overlooked or forgotten about. Or it is BFd for a particular date because there is something that needs to be done shortly after that.

So what this means is that your file will be reviewed on Jan 31st. Hope that helps.

I know it's a bunch of ppl and systems are not that great but What frustrate me is unless i find ways to go, there's no way she can enter as visit. Is def unfair

We have tried once and they denied it.

So idk but is not that easy at the moment. We try to keep in touch regular and seeing each other during year the most we can cause i can afford it but is not always the case, i would take this break too as knowing she's allowed to visit and go.

We don't have the option of asking for a Visitor one and waiting the PR inland they will never allow it.

She's wasting her time in her country for a specialisation she will never finish and she knows, so the more time it takes it makes it tougher to keep motivation there and i understand her completely on it.

Had hopes for the "around a year" process but the more i see things , ugh... sounds more like 14-16 months
We are all dealing with similar situations. Our lives are basically on hold but we have to keep living every day until this process is over. As others have said, we did marry people out of our country and that isn't the government's fault. Personally, I had no idea it would be such a hassle to have my new husband visit my country!! We don't realize how lucky we are to basically travel where ever we want as Canadians.

As for applying for a Visitor's Visa ... we've been refused three times!!! The first time we applied because I wanted to bring my partner (not married yet) to meet my family and friends in Canada. Nope, the visa officer decided that he might not return to CR when he was supposed to and the reason he decided that was because he doesn't have a job - he's retired; he doesn't own property - that changed hands in his divorce; and lastly, that he didn't own a business. As far as they were concerned he didn't have strong enough ties to make him come back to CR. Like most people in CR he is not a wealthy man and therefore doesn't own much of anything but that doesn't make him a bad person or irresponsible and not going to uphold the law. He was a police officer before retiring.

The second attempt was after we were married ... foolish me thinking that would make a difference. Nope, same reasons altho we had given them more information about us, where he had traveled before, and support letters from his daughters, etc.

The third attempt was after I spoke with my MP's office in Canada and they told me to give them an itinerary of where we would go to visit while he was here with people's names, addresses, and phone numbers; how long we would stay in each place, how we would support ourselves while we were here; we sent a letter of support from my daughter who was going to put us up for the month, etc. All this information simply gave them a stronger case that he had more support in Canada than he did in CR which is insane, but they have the upper hand and there is nothing you can do but go along with it!

So after wasting 3 x the money, the time and God knows frustration to do all this, we still had no VV and that is when I started working on our PR application. It took a year and a half to get it all together because they keep updating the documents and every time I changed them I had to get my husband and his daughters (who are not accompanying him) to sign them again, plus getting everything translated, etc. you know the drill, you have all been there. We submitted our one kilogram application from CR on Dec 29/18 and it arrived by courier on Jan 4/19 in Sydney, NS. Here we are just over a year later, still jumping through their hoops and hoping this whole thing will soon end.

Yes, I get just as frustrated as you all do, and yes, it's unfair ... but it doesn't make anything happen faster and certainly doesn't affect the officers or the process at all, so I prefer to spend my energy in other ways. :)

Sorry I didn't mean to write a book!

Excellent book ! Lol just kidding , but yes this is exactly how it is , I don’t mean to tell anyone not to be frustrated , I was too , I just found other ways to be positive . I promise all of you waiting that the frustration and waiting is worth it .
Thank you so much for sharing what you did because this will totally help someone .

My husband sent his passport to Mexico a month ago, does anyone know, do we ask the VFS or Mexico what is going on?
VFS says it was received on December 20th.
