PR visa outland. Got a heads up today to check my account for changes and when I did I was told that a decision had been made and our application was approved. We were given a tracking ID and told the decision envelope was being dispatched from Singapore back here to Bangkok. Happy days. But now several hours later we get a new email from CIC saying to check account for changes. Apparently my wife (applicant) needs to provide a new passport and we have about a month to get it done. Can anybody hazard a guess as to what is going on? Her passport is good until sometime in 2022. Thanks for any guesses. Cheers

I am truly only hazarding a guess, but perhaps this has to do with biometric requirements for passports? Or possibly some other change in the Thai passport issuance specs, like RFID readable and the like.

Again, only a guess.

Thanks for the quick responses my friends. I was only quoting from memory about her passport expiry date because her original is in Singapore. But now searching through my records I see her expiry is 08/21. This must be the problem. Hoping so anyway.

That's more likely it, yes. Don't know which specific rules but at any rate, better for you and her if documents match up and longer-dated valid passport.
