Hey there everyone,
I graduated from a public college with a two-years diploma and applied for PGWP. When applied online I uploaded my diploma certificate instead of the transcript. And CIC got back to me asking for my official transcript which I couldn’t submit by the deadline. Got refused and asked for reconsideration with the requested document , they stuck with their decision and asked me to reapply again instead. By the time I heard on my reconsideration I was out of 180days. Now I’m trying to restore my status and applying for TRP & WP at officer’s discretion. Did anyone have any success doing that? Thanks! :)

how is it even possible for you to be unable to acquire your transcript? did you not receive one when you graduated? and why was 180 days still insufficient for a transcript???

i dont believe you can restore anything or reapply for a pgwp now. are you still in canada?
It’s not a necessary document to add your transcript, & I didn’t have it when applied for my PGWP. They requested it as an additional document before making a decision on my file and I missed the deadline. And yes I’m still here, they gave me 90days to restore my status. So I hired I lawyer, and we’re trying to restore my status & apply for a TRP. I was just wondering if anyone else had to go through something similar! & I was out of 180days because it almost took them 125days to make a decision on my file. &then I waited addition ten days to hear back on my reconsideration application. By the time they gave their decision on the review I was out of 180days by couple of days!

horrible mistake by you. you should have provided the transcript so that they can check whether or not you were part time at any point in time.

im pretty sure the certificate itself does not show whether you were full time for the whole course.
100% agreed! Wish I could back in time &fix it! :(

Wow. So you applied for restoration within the given 90 days? Why applying for TRP then?
Good luck, but they take the 180 day thing very seriously.

Sorry for hijacking your thread, May I ask how long it took them to reply to your reconsideration request ?

10 days! But I looked up laws, they’re not even supposed to reconsider your application once they’ve made a decision and most probably they’ll stick with their decision! It’s better to just reapply!

Idk, my lawyer suggested it’s the better option to ask for a trp and a wp on the same application!
Doesn't make sense to me, but maybe your lawyer knows better.

If you were above the 90 day restoration period it could make some sense. But you still had the chance to restore to visitor & were not inadmissible.

I guess the reason why he’s doin this is cuz the ultimate goal is to get working rights, couldn’t restore as a student cuz I don’t have the money to pay a hefty amount to a school again, as worker cuz I was out of 180days and as a visitor cuz the chances transitioning from visitor to worker are very slim (even tho some very fortunate people have been successful with that). I’m not sure but I guess having trp makes you eligible for open work permit, it’s still a gamble and tbh it looks more net negative than positive, but I’d to try something at least!

Hi, how long did it take them to get back to you after you applied for reconsideration and what was the mode of getting back to you (ie was it by email or did you get an update on your online application?)

please help as I am currently waiting for their response on my reconsideration request and don’t know how to expect their response

They got back to me in 8 business days! God luck, hopefully it works out for you! :) If you’re running out of 180days soon, just reapply asap!
