Will we receive communication by mail or email?

Hi! My husband and I submitted our Inland application for sponsorship/PR in November.

This is very unfortunate, but my husband has been locked out of his email and has no way to get back in! (old security questions - I am kicking him for not keeping up on it!)

He is the sponsor and I'm wondering if we will get emails about our application by mail or email, and if by email then would they be sent to the sponsor or PA or both? Freaking out a little that there could be something in his email that we can't get to!

Thanks so much for any responses!

The sponsor gets AOR when they start processing the file. This is sent by email. They will communicate with you by emails. He should contact them to let them know he has no access to his emails anymore. The PA gets emails about what concern them like the work permit, medicals, etc. The sponsor gets emails about their eligibility as a sponsor for example.

Thank you for your response. Any idea how I can contact them? I can only find a web form in the Help Centre on CIC website, but it requires an application number which we don't have yet. Should we just call the call centre?

I would suggest to call them but they might not have opened your application yet. In this case, they will probably tell you to call another time. I know some people who applied in October are still getting their AOR. So they are probably not doing the November applications yet

Ok thanks very much! We've been trying to link our app online, but it's not there yet (obviously too soon). I might just wait until I can link it and then call. Otherwise I might be calling too much thanks again!

You husband should get a new email address then you contact them ASAP to advise them of the new one. This is from our AOR:

When should I contact CIC?
You must notify CIC of any changes to your application. Examples of changes include:
• Changes in your personal circumstances, such as birth or adoption of a child, a marriage or a divorce
• Change of contact information (e-mail, mailing address, telephone number)
• Appointment or change of immigration representative or designated individual
• Decision to withdraw your application

To notify CIC of changes to your application you may contact this office at the address identified below. You may also contact the Call Centre, toll-free, at 1-888-242-2100. Changes to your address may be made through our online service at http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/change-address.asp.

Thank you, he does have a new email, and we will try to call tomorrow. Looks like most people aren't getting AOR until about 50 days, which wouldn't be until mid January for us. This is the stupidest thing to go wrong!

Since you included an email address on the application, that is how you will receive correspondence. With your 50 day estimate for AOR I am guessing you applied Inland?

Yes yes we applied inland. We included my email on the application too but I guess they don't send everything to both emails. They should!
