hello,

when I sponsor my husband, I'm aware that I am financially responsible for him for the next 3 years and he is unable to apply for any government-funded programs. however, am I still eligible to apply for government programs as a Canadian citizen, for example, Alberta low-income health benefits for me and our kids?

Health benefits generally aren't welfare and should be fine.

Welfare is assessed on family income, so if you recieve welfare, you will have to pay it back.

Hello! Could you tell me what it is considered as social assistance in Quebec? I don't know if Child benefit counts as social assistance.

You may lose your low-income health benefit when factoring in your husband’s income. Your husband’s income likely needed to be added to see if you qualify after you got married.
