Hello All Friend, I am very nervous to look for some advice. My mom got polycythemia vera (PV) (mild blood cancer, develop very slow, could last 10 to 14 years) 2 years ago, now she will get her medical exam soon. I am planning to disclose her sickness even the exam may not be able to find it, but I am worried if she will be rejected due to excessive demand. Be honest, her treatment is very cheap, so far the medication in Canada only cost less $300 per year, and blood test every 3 month for monitoring. If based on her current situation, she shouldn't cost that much per year. however, theoretically, 20% PV patients may develop to more serious blood cancer, but so far the doctor and scientists do not know that much. My questions is how the officer to evaluate the uncertainty and will she be rejected? and am I have a chance to argue with this? I am a single child, my parents are getting older, long distance travel become harder and harder to them. Much appreciated if you could provide some advice. Thanks

The officer will look at her history to estimate costs, and well as future potential costs. No one can say what will happen. You would receive a Procedural Fairness letter if she is determined to be inadmissible.
Thank you. So based on my case, if I receive procedural fairness letter, is it worth to hire a lawyer to apply decision reversal? And if future is unpredictable, can I apply cost estimation based on her current treatment? If both don't work, by considering single child, can I apply humanitarian based immigration or any other way?
If you receive a PFL, yes, you should work with a lawyer experienced in medical inadmissibility to respond.
Being a single child is not grounds for an H&C app. Such cases only have a chance of success when the parents are elderly, infirm, have no support at home and are unable to care for themselves or support themselves in their own country. I am going to guess that your parents do not fit that description, especially as your mother is a physician.
Thanks, my question is, based on my case, getting a lawyer is meaningful or not if I get PFL. If there is no room to argue with, spending 2k to 6k for a lawyer is a wise decision or not.
For my parents, not financially, but physically need help. I think it is fairly common when people get old, living with kids is important. And 26 hours flight to visit us is very challenge for elders. As full time working mom with young kids, I can't visit them often either. So it ends up we can't see each other for years. And their life will be ended at retirement center without anybody visiting. So from H&C point, does it count?
An experienced lawyer can make a difference in such a case.
Still not H&C. The simple truth is that you made the choice to come to Canada and must be prepared for the fact that your parents may not be able to com here as well.
Thank you very much for all the replies. Do you know any lawyer who is experienced for those medical inadmissibility cases? I found several ones who are adverting good at this kind of cases. But I don't know if they are really good or just saying. I think time is critical for me, I would hire a lawyer who is actually specialized in this field, and give my best try for my parents.

There is no point in getting a lawyer until and unless you actually receive a PFL.

Think you are overreacting before even getting a PFL. Your mother’s case I has a good chance of avoiding a PFL in my opinion although I don’t have her lab work. All immigrants can not bring their parents to Canada. Canada accepts immigrants because of it’s aging demographic. Having all the parents immigrate would defeat the purpose. Unfortunately many people assume they will work out a way to bring their parents to Canada although it was never guaranteed. The reality is that many may have to return home after their family member is too sick to visit on a supervisa.
