LMIA & work permit processing

Hi guys,

Just wanted to get an idea of work permit timelines.

We received a positive LMIA and applied work permit under GTS on Oct 4th. Got biometrics and medicals request on Oct 7th. Medicals was uploaded on Oct 25th. Any idea how much time does it take to process the application under GTS once medical is uploaded???

I have not done my medical and biometric yet, I started my process on July it's almost oct now.. Can somebody explain why it's happens? Is mandatory to submit medical and biometric before or can i submit at last.. Can you list down the process of closed work permit like how it startt anyos and ends? Internet has very informations regarding closed work permit.. Kindly reply back guys

Hi, I have got an Job offer and will receive the positive LMIA by next week. But my joining date as per offer letter is 2nd January that is just more than a month from now. I am an Indian citizen and staying in India only.
My question is how much time does it take to get the work permit online from India?
My employer has been telling me it takes only 2 weeks to get work permit but I don't see anywhere else such short processing time for work permit.

Can anyone please suggest what can be done in my case ?

Is there any update you are getting from IRCC ? like the estimated time remaining or the steps remaining in the process ?

Your employer is correct. You can get work permit in 2 weeks if you apply under Global talent strean. Just make sure to submit upfront medicals which will fasten the process. We got ours in 6 weeks and we had not submiited our medicals upfront.

Thanks for sharing, I am already done with biometric and upfront medical because my PR is in process. I am applying in NOC 2174

Just want to know whether you also applied from India ?

In my case I am also applying for my wife’s open work permit along with mine.

Yes we applied from India and we also applied for spouse open work permit. We received the approval for both together. Please do check if it's good to apply for work permit when PR application is in process.

Hi All,

If i get job offer from canadian employer under GTS with LMIA (2 year closed wp). Then after one year of experience, If I create the EE entry profile, then shall I be able to obtain points for both LMIA (50) & Canada Work Exp 1 year (70 approx)??

Congratulations.. Can you please help me with the below queries? I am also waiting for my GTS based WP applied on 28th Nov
From which country did you apply?
For job in which province?
Did you create the application or employee attorney?
Did you have the online application updated with different stages of process or did you just get the passport request directly?
