That’s correct, you have to transfer money for GIC with dollar account and for that you have to be a filer

For everyone who is asking about GIC:
-Your name needs to be on the active tax payers list (ATL) or if one your parent is on ATL then you can open a joint foreign currency account with your parent.
-You can only wire transfer education fee (any amount mentioned on the admission letter will be accepted) through local currency accounts so there's no other way but to open a foreign currency account for GIC payment
-I recently got my letter from scotia bank, Alhamdulillah! I processed my payment from meezan bank and the whole process took me almost a month, from opening the account to receiving investment directions letter.
This GIC process is pretty long and frustrating, but don't lose hope.

The foriegn currency account need to be joint or we can also send from parent foriegn currency account ?( since they are funding everything)
