Anyone know how to get an update? I applied July 8th and still nothing. I am trying to get an update via their portal, but they fail to provide anything. Any other ideas (that have worked)?

Hi guys,
Next year I'm planning to university to get masters degree in IT. Here are couple questions:

1. If the course is 1 year full time once I complete it there is an option for co-op internship for 4-8 month. Would I be eligible for 3 years PGWP if go with co-op after study?
2. I'm going to travel to Canada with my wife and little daughter. Is it possible to get work permit for my wife while I'm studying and kindergarten for my daughter?
3. Let's say I graduate in September 2021 can I work right away or should I first get PGWP to work?
4. If get my PGWP in Dec 2021 does it mean it would be active till Dec 2022?

Your help will be appreciated.
You will be needing a coop work permit for your coop work. You should be fine if the coop placement is reflected on your academic transcript and part of your course. It will be considered as a study program.

Your wife can definitely apply for a open work permit and accompany your daughter. Depending on the age of your daughter, she might need to apply for a Study permit.

You will have to have implied status or PGWP to start working. I suggest you apply as soon as your program completes. You will be needing a NOC a, b,or 0 job to apply for your wife's extension.

Depending on the duration of your program, you will be given work permit. For example, if your program length is 1 year, you will be approved for 1 year PGWP. It's more than 1 year, you might be given upto 3 years depending on your passport expiry.

However, it is a matter of 3 years from now and these things changes over time. Who know what the rules will be then.

Did you apply inside canada for pgwp, then you shouldn't have gotten an eta. Etas are pretty simple to apply for.
Ok I solved this when I got a reply from IRCC. Yes I applied from inside Canada for PGWP and according to the reply, an eTA was automatically issued to me.
This tool: https://onlineservices-servicesenligne.cic.gc.ca/eta/applicationQuery?lang=en&_ga=1.5080243.1820281774.1440442782 is available only for those eTAs granted following the submission of an eTA application, not the ones automatically issued when approving study or work permit application.

Gotcha! I will keep you guys posted. If the new employer agrees to let me work under implied status, nothing like that. I will hear from them on Monday. Else will go ahead with the flagpole.
So, guys, me and my wife are going for the Flagpole tomorrow. We avoided Niagara and chose the Windsor-Detroit tunnel since we don't have a car. We will take the VIA Rail and travel there. Hope it goes smooth. Wish us luck. Hopefully will share our experience the following day.

Me - PGWP
Wife - SOWP extension

You can flagpole if you are within the 180 days or you could probably ask the company to delay your start, they can be very accommodating.
I have applied online.. Both my study permit and visa is expired at this moment . Can I still do a flag pole ?? Thanks in advance

This forum is for graduate students. Who applied for PGWP
Yup I know that. I graduated this August and applied for PGWP online but I was wondering do we need to have a valid visa to perform the flagpole. Which I assume would be true but wanted to have a confirmation.
