I added surname in my Indian passport recently which was not there earlier. Post this I applied and received Ontario name change certificate. After this I added surname in my driving licence and health card after submitting name change certificate in service Ontario. However I did not add my surname in my PR card. Will there be any issue if I travel to India and return to Canada using PR card which does not have surname in it. I will be carrying old and new passport along with new driving licence and "Ontario name change certificate"

No. It wont. I have the same situation and have travelled to India twice and also citizenship allows name change without change in PR card.

Thanks Tankala13. My citizen ship application is already in process so that's why I thought not to change in PR card. Anyways thanks. So in case of travel , I need to carry old and new Indian passport along with new driving licence and name change certificate. Any other thing do I need to carry?

That should be enough. They normally don't care if you have a valid PR card. Just for precaution carry new and old passport along with name change certificate and PR Card. Nothing required more than that.

Thanks.. when you say "they do not care" who are you referring it? Is it Canadian authority or Indian authority?

Hello, Im really confused with my situation so I am really hoping you can help me out?

So I already received AOR of my citizenship application, if I want to change my last name as I am still using the last name of my ex husband, I have the divorce certificate that is granted here in Alberta, can I change my last name before reaching a decision to my application? I was thinking to wait till I received my certificate of citizenship when the time comes then have them change my surname back to my fathers surname.

I am also a Filipino citizen, and I got married back home, ex husband is a Filipino, but filed and granted divorce here in Canada. I know that once became a Canadian citizen I automatically renounce my Filipino Citizenship not unless I apply for dual citizenship is this correct? If this is the case and I want to change my surname back to my fathers surname, can I do so without having any complications entering Philippines one day with a Canadian passport and my name being switch back to fathers surname since I am a Canadian citizen on that time anyway?

I really hope I am making sense with what I am seeking advice with. Thank you so much in advance for helping me out with this.

Better change name once you received Citizenship. Otherwise it will prolong delay our application for citizenship. Travelling back to your home country would not be a problem with your new name as you would be having name change certificate which will show old name as well as new name.

Yes, you can change before citizenship process completes. But it mainly depends on your Officer. Would request you to send them an email with a copy of your name change document issued by Alberta. That should do that trick. Otherwise you can request for change after your Citizenship process is complete which takes another 3-4 months.

But as per the article below on canada.ca, you can request them to incorporate name change before the process completes. But it depends on the officer. Please refer to below details: -
