Hello can anyone help me whos parents are here on supervisa?

Did you guys renew their health insurance once expired ? What happens if you dont get it ?
I think you should renew your parent's health insurance because it is very important in Canada whether your parents come here as visitors or are on a super visa. I do provide all types of insurances and I've seen the consequences & deal with people who don't buy health insurance. I'd recommend it.

The health insurance is there for your parents safety...I highly recommend renewing it...my mother had her foot fractured and she was in hospital for 3 nights and they billed me $18,000 which was 100% covered under insurance.

My file was received on June 20th. I haven't received any acknowledgement from IRCC , ECAS also shows nothing. Anyone on the same boat?

We always renew. Don't want to get stuck with a hospital bill of thousands of dollars.

File received on 19th.
Going from the tracker and it being peak vacation time, I assume we would get an update/acknowledgment in 30-40 days from now.

Any new AOR / application received :(
The process seems to have slowed down at IRCC and I haven't seen many postings confirming the AoR after May 17th (application receipt date at Ottawa). I am also waiting for an email from IRCC as my application was received at CPC Ottawa on May 23rd.

No, you don't have to renew. They can stay here for rest of 2 years without insurance.
And next time they want to visit again for 2 years, just come in with 6 month visitor visa and apply for extension. They do not ask for medical insurance.

But, as mentioned by others, for the safety of your parents and your wallet, insurance is recommended.
If payment is too much for you, i suggest looking into high deductible options, instead of $0 deductible.
You pay lot less up front but in case you need use it, you pay $500~1000 deductible, which is nothing compare to cost of hospitalization without insurance.

May 17th AoR only came on Saturday / Sunday for some. Next Friday/Saturday next batch will probably come. Based on what reported, they alreaey checked the file for completness at least till June 10th.

It was part of the agreement to receive a supervisa. If CIC discovered they don’t have insurance on a supervisa their visa could be cancelled. You could also end up with over 100K of medical debt. At least if you had coverage for up to 100k it would cover the majority of emergency situations.

@DC1018 How long did it take for the case officer to acknowledge the receipt of the document faxed to them? I have faxed my dad's death certificate on 31st July and called CIC today to check if they received the document. They said the case officer is yet to update the file hence they are not sure if they received it. Asked me to call back on 12th August again to confirm.
It has only been a few days if you count the long weekend. Give them 2 weeks.

Lots of families are paying off significant medical debt because their parents didn’t have insurance and got sick in Canada. One was paying off over 100K in instalments. If you have lots of savings go for it but if you don’t have significant savings then you’re taking a huge risk.
