Ohk n lawyer says for each city you studied or worked for more than 6 months even for that u need diff PCCs even if same state n passport PCC won’t be helpful in express entry ..I m not satisfied
You need PCC for each county where you stayed for atleast 6 months, not city. Unfortunately, your lawyer is not accurate. When you will get ITA and full application details, you will see placeholder for PCC for all countries that you need to obtain, not states. I would advise change your lawyer.

Reference: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigration-refugees-citizenship/services/immigrate-canada/express-entry/apply-permanent-residence/police-certificates.html

You must include police certificates when you apply for permanent residence.

Our online system will ask for a police certificate for:

  • you and your family memberswho are 18 years or older and
  • every country you (or a family member) stayed in during the last 10 years for 6 months or more in a row

Hi everyone
I have applied for family visa. I have stayed in different states of India. Now, I have submitted PCC which I got it directly from local police station of my permanent address. I didn’t apply at PSK of my area. Now, I am worried that is it sufficient or again I need to get it from PSK?
Thanks in advance!
This is fine too if your stayed at this place only.

I have used PCC from local police stations and that worked perfectly. But PSK thing is easy and fast. So whatever works is go

That’s good but did u get PCCs of multiple addresses where you were not permanent resident??? It’s so complicated and u r lucky otherwise it’s so hassle in Punjab to get of each city n rule is of one country n if u got of multiple cities plz send me sample n wording so that if I need I will go the same way

Hi Nirap,

As someone who's completed his own PR process and has helped some friends finish their profiles for PR. My first genuine advice to you based on reading this thread- Change your lawyer.

PCC from India is one of the simplest processes, There's absolutely no hassle and the rules are well laid out.

PCC from INDIA compulsorily must be from PSK, the PSK PCC simply states that there's no adverse reports about you in the country of India and you are free to (reason of travel which would be 'apply for residency abroad' in our cases)

Now there are exceptions for this rule, I believe if you've only stayed in the state of Punjab since you've been 18 then you are free to get the letter from the Local Police station in a particular format. In practice, if you've stayed in just 1 or two places since you were 18 I've seen people successfully get through getting certificates from Local PS even from outside Punjab but that may be an oversight on IRCC's end.

The final verdict is, unless you have a specific reason not to do so, getting a PCC from PSK is the most acceptable and straightforward method to apply for a Canadian PR. The format is already pre-created by the Ministry of External Affairs, you don't have control over it, go to the passport website https://portal2.passportindia.gov.in/ and apply at your nearest PSK. You'll have a PCC in 2 to 20 days depending on your situation.

Good luck.

As said, best and easy is to get from passport offices. One PCC for whole India. I took two PCCs one from Punjab and one from Noida as I lived their.

Do yourself a favor and get rid of that lawyer as soon as possible. He is an idiot and if he doesn't know such basic details he will mess up your application. There are plenty of horror stories on this forum of lawyers messing up simple details.
