Processing time for spousal visa - Sri Lanka

Hi all , hope you all doing well , i want to clarify this ... after arrival in Canada , do we go through any interview coz one of my friends wife went through 2 hurs interview on her arrival in Canada.

Not necessarily, unless you are required to. Normally they will inform you if you do have an interview or not.

No they dont ask anything they asking only normal questions like living address. not much long hours, CBSF are very busy while their work. Every detalis in your COPR

I have a question. I applied for my PR under the spousal sponsorship category from Sri Lanka. My wife is in Canada. They recived my application on February 4th. On March 20th they asked me to send my police reports. I send it to them on April 10th. Since then I have not recived anything from them. I would hopped to get a medical request by now but nothing yet. On my ecas it says the application started to process on the 4th April and that's it. Is this normal? Should I be concerned? Any help is much appreciated guys.

Don’t worry, it’s completely normal. I applied on October 25th, 2018 under the spousal sponsorship category for my husband as well, and we haven’t received our medical request yet. Have they started your background check yet? If they haven’t... you will eventually get a letter from them saying that they will transfer your file to the Colombo visa office and start the background check. Also, which province is your wife applying from? I’m from Quebec, and we also received a request to apply for the CSQ before they can move on to the medical request.

After SA approved its took 3-5 month For medical request i think you got march your sponsorship approval so you must wait untill august
before august you will get your medical request . so its very normal nothing to worry.

Yeah it so frustrating because of the lengthy process eh. I think they need to do a much better job and cut down these wait times to reunite family members, especially spouses. My wife is apply from Ontario. She did recived an email on 26th March saying that my file is transferred to Colombo. Thank you so much for your reply. Good luck on your application. Yes, my wife got an email saying that her sponsorship is approved and my file had been transferred to Colombo for further process on 26th March. The wait is killing me lol. I'm sure everyone here is in the same boat eh. Thank you so much for your reply. I will add myself to the timeline.

No news at all - I am speechless about how long this is taking. July 19 will be one year for us and we have not heard from Colombo visa office since our file transfer in November. Ridiculous to say the least.

We are expecting our first child in January and I have sent them a note from my family physician. I visited my husband 4 times during the year and updated them with boarding passes and everything. I don't know what more they need but this is a torture now. I don't know what my options are after the 1 year is up

It is indeed so frustrating. But once your application has exceeded the one year time frame you can contact your MP and also you can send a web form. They only consider these queries if the app has exceeded the time frame, any inquiries within the 1 year period are not even taken into consideration. Thats the only consolation I guess...
