Why don't they hire more people to handle immigration cases?

Yes, but their taxes will also be used for infrastructure and social services to support them in Canada, per the government's annual budget, as there will now be more people in Canada. It's not like the immigrants' taxes can be channeled to processing immigration only.

The process has been streamlined a LOT in the past few years. I sponsored a partner from the US (inland, mind you, but with a 'straight forward' application) a few years ago and it took 13 months to get to the AIP stage, and then several more for a final decision and landing. This time we got AIP in exactly 6 months.

When I was a child, it took my family 4 years to immigrate to Canada.

If they suddenly started processing applications in 1-3 months, there would still be someone here complaining that their application wasn't processed yesterday.

Keep in mind that this process involves several organizations and processes that all have a ton of paperwork/data entry/etc. and actually takes real people real time to complete.
yessss. Well said.

I've been a Canadian citizen for the last 30 years and I am in Canada right now. This is about other people, not me.
Fair enough - the point still stands. Of course I agree that things should be faster and smoother. I also feel that Canada is a lot faster and nicer than other countries.

It is in the best financial interest of Canada (in my opinion) to hire more workers and get these future Canadians here earlier. This would help to grow the Canadian economy....
When you arrive, you will realize there is no business case in Canada, particularly in government.
True, tax paid by new Canadians justify their process cost, of course. But first of all many Canadian regardless origin don't pay tax, secondly regardless how many people they hire, speed will be same in any government program, LOL.

Unfortunately, there are many people that when they get PR approval, they only do a soft landing and then go back to home country to live. These people do not help grow Canadian economy.

It's not that hard to hire more immigration officers. Canada needs to make more progress, Canada is shooting it's economy in the foot by making future Canadians wait a YEAR to move. These are Canadians that have the legal right to move to Canada, just as soon as their applications are processed.

This isn't about me or my application. This is about the thousands of people that have the legal right to move and are just waiting for the government. It makes zero sense to make these people wait while they continue to pay taxes and contribute to their home economies.
But do you know how many officers they have in each office? none of us do. Personally I am relieved that the process has gone down from 24 months to most cases 12 months.
I understand the frustration as all of us here are living it or have lived through it. Processing applications for most are easy, however in some cases and some countries verifying information is difficult and this takes time. Patience is key and i wish you the best of luck and a speedy process.

I am already in Canada (the best city in Canada actually). I have been a Canadian citizen for the last 30 years. I started a Canadian corporation, so certainly I am one of the few Canadians that actually look at the "business case" of things. It's too bad more Canadians are not entrepreneurial minded.

Just because Canada processes an application faster than Iraq or Iran does not mean it's better than other countries. If Canada cares about immigrants like they say so much, maybe they should show it and get these future Canadians to Canada ASAP.

However many there are, it is clearly not enough eh? 12 months is a ridiculous amount of time to wait.

I was talking about the US and the UK. I have experience with both these countries.

But whatever man, I'm out of this thread, this is just a rant now.

Like you I am a Canadian Citizen... born and raised. My Husband is not. As much as the wait is frustrating along with the process we have to wait. I have also had documents submitted in April that still show they are reviewing them. Patience my friend it will happen

Well yeah it was a rant to begin with. I just think Canada should be the best country in the world and process these applications faster than any other country in the world. Making people wait is just bad for the economy and bad for these new Canadians.

Yeah I know it will happen eventually and that is fine. I am frustrated for my application, for yours, and the thousands of other future Canadians that have to wait. I could honestly understand the long waits if it made financial sense to do that. It just seems to me that it would make financial sense to hire more immigration officers and process these applications faster. People pay income tax, property tax, sales tax, etc etc.... the taxes should more than pay the salary of these immigration officers. Then on top of that, the government collects tax money from the immigration officers salaries! When these new immigration officers spend their post-taxed salaries, they pay property tax, sales taxes, etc. It just makes all the financial sense in the world to hire more immigration officers and process people faster.

I wish someone from the government would see my rant and do something. I am trying to improve Canada here! I want to save other future Canadians from having to go through this!

Intention cannot be enforced. People make up stories all the time. Just read postings on this forum, there are plenty people return to home country after landing.
If it can't be enforced, then they shouldn't even ask for it? I think the Canadian immigration system has a lot of room to improve.
