I have a Dutch passport and both my parents are Dutch. They moved to the UK 25 years ago and I was born in the UK and have lived there all my life.

I can’t get a British passport without giving up my Dutch one which I have no intention of doing as I’m proud to be Dutch and it has never been an issue when I got my Australian working visa a few years back.

I was invited to apply and sent off all my documents and biometrics and the decision came back that my visa was refused because I don’t currently reside in the Netherlands.

Having read previous posts on this site, I see that I have to provide an address for myself within the Netherlands.

Do I have to move to the Netherlands and put down an address there or can I just go for a month, stay with family and put their address down? Do I even have to go or can I just put down a relatives address? Is this checked?

I really want to go to Canada and am more than happy to apply again but want to know what I need to put down on my address in order for my application not to be refused again but I want to ensure I m doing it correctly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

You would need to move to the Netherlands and live there for a bit (e.g. six months) before reapplying.

Ok thanks for your reply. Do I need to register at an address or anything? Do they check under the address I put down for the that I live there?
