1. Son wants to sponsor parents (father and mother). He has his working wife and two minor children all living together. His wife has already sponsored her parents. How to calculate son's dependents as his wife is working and has income of her own. Are his in-laws to be taken as dependents. For how many persons he is required to have income?
2. Wife has retained her maternal family name/surname in her passport/travel document, as such it is different from husband's family name/surname. Is she eligible to co-sign the sponsorship agreement?
An immediate information is solicited.

1. Did "Son" cosigned his wife's PGP sponsorship?
If not, if "Son" alone made enough for 6 people for the previous 3 years, then he can apply to sponsor his parents without adding his wife as a co-signer. (son, wife, 2 children, his parents). Did he got into 2019 PGP?
2. is irreverent. She can co-sign if they are married. They will need to provide marriage certificate as proof. lastname has no significant to this application. BUT if she will co-sign, then the combined family income needs to cover 6 people + her parents and any dependents of her parents.

yes he got into 2019 PGP. Form IMM1344 says the co-signer should give family name as on Passport or travel document. Incidentally it is different as she has retained her parental family name as family name/surname in her passport/travel document. The PGP Guide does not mention marriage proof anywhere. but form IMM1344 specifically mentions it to be identical to that of sponsor family name.

Not sure what you mean. Absolutely nowhere in any Canadian immigration app is it required that spouses have the same last name.
